Hello all I just recently got back into model building and for my first kit in years i decided to buy academy's m997. I was wondering if anyone out there knows what I'd need to update this kit to OIF standars and if these vehicles ever used the ASK armor kits. any pics or info would be awesome. Thanks guys and happy modelling

Here is a picture of an M997 with ASK installed:

M997 w/ASK and Red Dot Airconditioner

There is very little out in the way of aftermarket for ambulances. The couple of items are:
1. Eduard PE set #35166- Designed for the Academy kit
2. Legend LF1126- IDF Ambulance conversion

There are various other items that you can buy such as resin tire replacements, replacement light lenses (SKP), replacement radio sets, mirror surfaces, etc. But, only the two items listed above are made specifically for the ambulance. Pro Art makes a 2-door ASK conversion set.

I also have a complete walk-around here of an M997 Ambulance:

My good friend Kuba has a great HMMWV website also with a lot of information here:

Eduard makes a general PE update set for it. All you would really need for an OIF vehicle is new, radial tires. Many resin companies offer them. Other than that, just some newer gear on them and that is about it.

I have not seen any with ASK plates on them. It would be kind of pointless just to armor the cab area and not the rear as well.

There are plenty of photos showing M997 with ASK (and RedDot Airco on the roof). One of these photos is linked by Brent above. The next ones:

I didn't say they did not exist, just that I hadn't seen any. Brent beat me to the punch on the AM items, oh well.

Gino - everything is ok. I just wanted to point, that this is very interesting little conversion of a standard M997. And tan ASK looks very nice on three-tone NATO camouflage But is it pointless just to armor the cab area and not the rear as well? Yes, I've got the same opinion.

You have type errors in your post so it is difficult to understand what mirrors you are looking for. I have extra Tamiya and Academy brushguards so I can help you with those. I can probably help with the mirrors to, i just need clarification of what your after.

I will send the parts for free.

I have two of the 'new style' mirrors that I carefully cut off a M966 TOW Missile carrier that I'm building that I can send to you. I also have extra brush guards from Academy HMMWV kits and Tamiya HMMWV kits. I can send you one of those as well.

In regards to CIP panels, I have several from Tamiya kits. I can send you what you need of those too. If those are too basic for your liking, Eduard and a couple of other aftermarket companies make photo-etch CIP sets.

Let me know what you need.

Maybe you can scratchbuild the antenna :

http://data.primeportal.net/hummers/sanders/humvee/Blueforce%20Tracker.JPG

and buy D-Toys set for the other parts (the included antenna has nothing to do with the BFT - it's the DUKE jammer one) ?

Yes, this would be a great set, if they didn't change BFT antenna with Duke...
