I just started watching "Walking Dead" , great show! Better than the Romero franchises! Anyway, I thought doing a 'zombie apocolypse' diorama would be fun, so I started looking around for 1/35 suitable figs preferably in plastic for conversion work. Trumpeter's PMC sets are suitable candidates for 'good guys', as are a couple of Master Box insurgents. Zombies are similar except they don't carry weapons and are uglier . Having trouble finding modern civilian figs in action poses, or at least convertable, for both good guys and bad guys. Does anyone know of any other figure brands or sets that I may have overlooked? Keep in mind that I need running and walking figs.

there is a pretty crummy Vietnamese civilian female figure in the academy 1/35th Vietnam era M113 ACAV kit who is 95% of the way to being a zombie as molded.
A little grey paint, some blood and you're there.

Whoa! Master Box also do a Vietnamese female civilian in one of their sets. Maybe I can do a "Teenage Mutant Ninja Zombie" dio.

I've been working on a MASSIVE zombie apocalypse diorama since the start of 2012.

So far I've been using random bodies out of my spares box modified with putty. Since clothing will all be scrounged and widely varied, I've used WW2 Germans to good effect, as well as ICM Cold War DDR.

As for zombies thats been more complicated. I've completed one good pose by adding new arms to a Zvevda German pioneer. Using a file I messed up his face a bit, and plan to use what the wargamers call 'green stuff' putty to complete the visage.

Just to add to the Vietnamese female, Dragon's old Viet Cong Figure Set had a pretty good female figure. By the way, with a little work those pajamas can be made to look like a set of hospital scrubs.

A zombie horde would be a cross-section of society. I would expect that the medical industry, police/military, and emergency services would be hit hard. On that note, Academy's German Infantry Ardennes 1944 and GERMAN SS INFANTRY 'RUSSIA 1944 figure sets are pretty cheap and most of which could be converted easily to fire fighters.

Dragon's Soviet Snipers can be converted to look like hazmat suits. Snatch the gas masks from one of the Dragon Elite Police Forces sets or from the Tamiya US Equipment set.

Lots of other figures as well but you'll have to cherry-pick the odd figure or two from various figure sets.

Good luck.
