At dawn on 20 November 1943, U.S. Marines launched an assault on Tarawa, a Japanese-held atoll in the British Protectorate of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands. The water in the lagoon was only 3 feet deep that morning, less than the 4–5 feet required by a fully loaded personnel carrier to navigate the waters. As a result, marines saddled with equipment were forced to wade almost a mile across the lagoon under heavy Japanese fire.
Well Gents this is what I want to do. Here's what I have so far. the water is a pain in the neck to simulate
I still have to work on the Higgen's boat and put Marines into the water
Any suggestions would be gladly accepted
Thanks
Tom

Nice beginnings! Very dramatic. Maybe a bit more light in the pix?

Hey Thomas, better light please. From what I can see looks good so far. I am on a south Pacific kick right now so I'll be whatching this one. I am thinking you might have added the figures before adding water. This will be a bit hard to put figures in now that the water is already in place. Not really sure how you plan to do this, hope you have a good idea. What did you use for the expanding/thrown up water from the near miss? Looks great.

Bob
The space in front of the landing craft is not done yet, just painted. the next step is a major conversation of figures to show the Marines wading ashore through waist deep water.
Ill keep you posted as to my progress
Thanks again

I would suggest one or two Marines floating in the water. It would put this assault to shame, if that were left out.

Matt
Thanks for the suggestion but Marines laden down with equipment I doubt would float. They would be washed ashore

Gents
I know it's been a while. But you know with the holidays I didn't have much bench time. I also had to wait for the Navy Personnel i ordered. so here's an update
I hope to have this project finished soon
Thanks

Hey Thomas, looking good there. Is that the 3 man lcvp set? Can't remember who did it but it looks like the set I got awhile ago. Nice paint job on them.
