Hi all!

I am working on a trailer setup for the Tasca 1/24 scale Zundapp. I have the Lion Roar 1/35 Zundapp kit as a pattern to scale from and I have a question regarding the towing hitch assembly.

In the Lion Roar kit it appears that there are two different styles of trailer hitch/towing bars offered. One is a large, four piece affair that I have seen in many photos. The other is a far simpler one piece unit (A30 in the kit) that I have never seen before. Was this style of tow bar actually used?

From a scratchbuilding standpoint it would be far easier to build one of these one piece units but I've never seen them used and don't know how common they may have been. Also the instructions are a little thin on the mounting details of this type of tow bar. Can anyone help with this?

thanks!

Is it the one you're talking about ? (from 2 walkarounds on Primeportal)

Frenchy to the rescue again! Man you are awesome. Yes, that is exactly the setup that I was looking for. You can see that from a scratchbuilding and kit modifying standpoint this simpler style would be far easier to make. Using this style I could avoid having to reproduce a great many of the original kit parts to accept the tow bar mechanism.

thanks!

You're welcome James Here's another view of the trailer connector (there are some minor differences with the one pictured above) :

Here's a side view :

Apparently, the other set up was originally fitted to BMW R75 sidecars...

This is even better than I'd hoped for. Thank you so much Frenchy! This last photo will let me make one that very accurately detailed without having to go to extraordinary lengths. Great find. These photos also shed a bit more light on how these mechanisms worked and how well they were constructed.

It appears that it should be easy enough to build. The wheels and trailer body are already built so hopefully the tow mechanism will go quickly as it looks far easier.

thanks again!

As far as I can tell (looking at the instruction sheet pics in the Lion Roar kit first-look review on Armorama), the x-shaped stamped plate which appears to be a strenghtening part is not included in the kit. Here's another picture showing where it goes :
