I've read other reviews that say this kit is a dog. What I want to know is: how the build fit is and what corrections are needed to have it represent an accurate LeClerc?

Hi Matt
what do you mean by Leclerc II?
To my knowledge Heller have only issued two kits of the Leclerc : the first one is an early batch and is not that bad in fact even if it requires some extra detailing just like the Tamiya kit in fact. You could consider changing the tracks.
The second one is a later model with the turret bustle bins and the extra armor (but not a series II like the Tamiya kit). As I never had this one in hand, I can't reaaly comment on its accuracy. Basically, this is the original kit with add-ons.

Olivier: Thank you. I meant the later version. I've heard bad things about both, but if the first one is with minimal detailing, I will go with it.

Matt,
here is my rendition of the firts one with a Terres Modeles conversion. Sorry for the poor picture and the missing gun muzzle
You'll see more pics on my site.

Olivier: Thanks for the photo. I came across you site, while looking for references. Nice build. I think I will go with the Tamiya kit or the Ariete.
