I read that the French Foreign Legion used different wheels on their EBR's other than the four metal "Traction Motor" wheels that were standard.
Any information on what they used?

The 1st Régiment Etranger de Cavalerie (1er REC) of the Foreign Legion tested the EBR in desert environment during the trans-saharian "Constantine-Tamanrasset" raid (a.k.a. Mission Dorot) in January 1958.
Some of the test vehicles were apparently fitted with 8 identical tires :
