Well looky here, a three-tone nato camo A2 in Korea and what the heck is that on the turret??? (I'm actually talking about the smaller bracket in front of the CITV) Let the painting begin!

The really interesting thing is that all tanks seem to be equipped with the M151 remote weapon station?!

Yup, they received their first batch last spring. They belong to "2nd Tank"; 2-72 AR, 2 ID. The bracket in front of the CITV is to secure the CROWS 2 in the folded down position.
In the field.

And if you look closely at the top pic you can see the pieces and parts for a TUSK set

Gino,
Repreat after me, "There is no 2nd Tank in ROK, only 1st Tank and 2-9IN... 2nd Tank only exists in our memories"
Not trying to poke you in the eye, just trying to keep the Redleg crowd honest... I have to do so on a daily basis, with my job location and such...

Looks like it can also be used with a spare wheel :

I keep forgetting good ol' 2nd Tank is gone. Ahh, the good old days.
On the M1A2 SEP v2 (CROWS 2 version), I also found some pics of them in use w/1st Tank, but couln't get the pics to link to show it. Here is the link to them.
Maybe they have a mixed BN of plain M1A2s and M1A2 SEP V2s.

Gino,
The pics that you posted correspond with the one that Frenchy posted, specifically, the CROWS2 mounting bracket around the GPS shows in both pics. That particular version of the CROWS must be a MWO to replace the flex with an under armor option to engage targets with the .50. I would guess that the SEPS in the first pics are heading to or part of APS-4
How is the DC job treating you? I have seen your name on several briefings - nice PowerPoint skills.

Job is going well. I don't know if my name on briefings is good or bad. Hmmm.....
I can't complain here though. DC is a great place to live.

Good point. We should scrap them and just issue Humvees and MRAP's. Tanks will never be needed again.

Although there is the 800-lb gorilla just a little north of there too...

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.
I guess tanks served no purpose in Iraq whatsoever? Funny that the wheeled Strykers are getting tracks and uparmored in a competition to replace the M113. Okay, sure those aren't tanks, but the idea is that armies of the world still have them in their arsenal. They are and will be one element of the battlefield for years to come.
Having air power to attack the enemies tanks and protect your own sure helps. You still need a force that sweeps across the terrain though. Maybe in the future they will be UGVs, but you'll still need armor to enhance survivability of the system.
UAVs are nice, but sometimes nothing replaces boots on the ground.
