Since it is an armored car meant to resist small arms and IED's, I was wondering the the US National Guard would find them useful, since they are called upon for serious civil disturbances? Or are they too expensive or otherwise unsuitable? I have the kit which I bought on a lark and wondered.

Yes, the National Guard has M1117's. The National Guard MP units here in Missouri have a large number of them.

Yes, Army National Guard units have all the same, latest equipment that Active Duty units have. Over the last few years (about , the Guard has been considered part of the Total Force that is deployable. For this reason, they have rapidly modernized.

as you can see from the replies, their having matching equipment as the full time Army has more to do with readiness and effectiveness much much more than "serious civil disobediences". Maybe for the Zombie apocalypse or that almost-wreck-western-civilization Occupy thing, eh?

So the NEXT Alien invasion the NG will roll out Guardians instead of tanks?
