Blows air from where? Some moisture traps are uni-directional, make sure it is facing the right way? If it is blowing air from the bottom of the trap, then maybe the valve at the bottom of the trap is open, one mine it sometimes needs back pressure to close, I just put my finger over the hole then close the valve.

no it's like the compressor runs for 10 seconds then shuts off
if I unhook everything it blows air so it has to be something with the trap i can't figure out
the air hose also works just hooked to the compressor without the trap

1. Are you sure you have put the pressure guage in the right hole?
2.Have you tried rotating the black knob on top of the reg? If it won't turn, sometimes there is a collar that you have to pull up or push down on to be able to turn the knob to adjust the pressure.Sometimes it's the whole knob itself.
3.Look on the reg.and see if there is an arrow showing which way the air flows and make sure you have it mounted correctly.Try these things and see what you get.Jeff T.
