Have a suggestion for Armorama.com? Post it here for all to see. We can't promise we will enact it, but hey - anything's possible.

I like the "feel" of the site. There seems to be a great potential for great dicussions here. Finally a true site for armor!

A chat feature would be great!!

Messages are great, but chatting can push the envelope even farther. I can see that there are many visitors and reg. users, but I can't get to them.

This could be a meeting site as well as a base of knowledge!

Brian,
I will look into a chat module. To be honest I am not sure what effect that would have on my server performance. But we can give it a try.

Thinking again about the chat feature, there are other solutions like ICQ etc. I must admit I don't know much about it other than I enjoy it.

A chat feature?! Would be great!
In all the years of modleing I've never actually "talked" with anyone about it. I spend quite a bit of time looking for answers and "whats new" on the WWW, and to be able to chat with others with the same interests would add a new dimension to this wonderful world of modeling. Hope it can be done. :-)

Ok...I have added an IRC Chat area (see side menu left). It's an unregistered copy so it pops up a couple of annoying lines every time you send a message, but I want to see how everyone likes it before I fork over $50 for the registration. Let me know what you think of it.

Having said all that I am not really even sure it's working. I will stay in the "armorama" room/channel for a while to see if I can talk to anyone.

I was there, and it appears to work. No one was there to test it with. There is a free voice chat called Roger Wilco, works like a radio transmitter and can handle over a dozen people (too many folks and you end up "stepping" on everybody's transmission, just like a real radio net)

I also noticed the smiley have finally appeared below.

Hi
I was thinking if we could have something to enable us to receive an email note if somebody has replied our posts.
Just a thinking, the site overall is really great, keep up the good work.
Cheers

Hello Paulo, that feature is already here. At the top of each topic or sub-topic just click on the "Subscribe to Topic". The next reply or post in that specific topic, you'll receive an email. :-)

Ken - Hmmm....is that working for you? I have tried subscribing but I never get any mail. I assumed it was broken. Let me know if it is working for you though. Might just be me.

How bout' streaming the History Channel so we that don't have it can see it too! (more joke than real, but...)

Another note: spelling error on transportation page after you reply to a message in the forums. ...transport is misspelled.

I'm sorry I proof-read alot in my work!

Brian,
Sorry to hear about the lack of the History Channel. You'd think it would be big in Europe. You guys must have something similar though, no?

Thanks for the tip about the spelling. This code for this site is done by people all over the world. You should see some of the errors I fixed!

History Channel is big over here, the real problem is it costs big money to have it. I would enjoy very much to be able to have the History channel and CNN, but to get those you have to take in 20 other channels.

Brian,
Oh well then we are in the same boat on that one. We use to get it on our regular cable for about $40US a month. But then we got DirectTV and I think we had to pay a small ($10?) fee to get that and a group of other channels like it. Of course the total DirectTV bill is around $40 too. But 200 channels...whoo hooo.

I would like to offer my suggestion, how about a 'What If' section, or a forum on that subject?

Tom,
Do you mean a "What if?" in terms of vehicle types, or more a of a history discussion. If it's the later we have a section in the forum for that now. Look towards the bottom of the main page.

I have an idea. I would love to have a kit review section based on which type of armor/aircraft you would like to build. I got the Idea from Sabot's excelent post on the "new" italeri kits. He gave some great info on what you can do with kits and what you can expect from the different kit brands. This feature could save people of my skill and knowledge level money and heartache. For example If I wanted to build a M1 abrams it would be nice to select that and go to a page that had the different variants (M1, M1A1, etc.) that are available, the pros and cons to the actual kit, raitings on the detail level and acuracty of the kit, and so forth. I know this would be a ton of work and open to personal opinion but would help a lot of people. I guess the main thing I would like (to sum things up) is to be able to say hmmm, I thinK I will build an Abrams and find out which kits are available and which ones suck so I don't have to learn the hard way. I know thats part of modeling but if someone else was burned or unhappy with a kit, it would be nice to know before I go buy the same thing. Considering the amount of work this would be, maybe the information could be gathered through a weekly pole asking which M1 kit is good and another asking which ones stink. After that maybe the most experienced builders could put there heads together fill in the finer details on why its good or bad. The sight is coming along great, I am so glad I found it. Thanks for all the hard work thats gone into it so far.

Andrew,
Definately a good idea there. I would love to offer that kind of functionality. As this site is driven by a database (unlike a lot of the other hobby sites out there) I need the right software solution to make your "Kit Guide" section a reality. I am already on the lookout for something similar to what you're asking for so hopefull I will either find it or be able to modify an existing module to do the job. Ah... a webmasters job is never done.

I've been working on an Abrams resource data base along with several other "experts" from Missing Links. A couple of us are tankers by trade and have spent many years climbing on the real things.

So, fire away if you have any questions on a particular M1 kit. I have not seen a Trumpeter one, I bought a Trumpeter M60A3 and it was the worst knock-off I had ever seen. That has shied me away from the rest of the Trumpeter line.

I don't want to put a lot of work or expense in the idea for you, a simple exel spreadsheet with the info would make me more than happy. I can see you put a lot of pride in your work and want it to look good like the rest of your sight, but a simple format with the info would be perfect for me.
