Hoping someone can help me out. I have the Cyber Hobby King Tiger Henschel w/ zim 505th Russia 1944 kit and want to build it into a command tank. Wondering if anyone knows what the correct markings would have been for that particular subject? Couldn't believe it when I went into my local hobby store last spring and there was this kit still sitting on the shelve. Thanks for any help.

Yep it sure is. I also picked up the Kurzmaul Tiger 1 and the Cyber Hobby initial production King Tiger. Still can't believe all three of those kits were still sitting there. Hopefully someone can answer my question. lol

To make a command tiger Sd.Kfz. 267 or a 268 Depends upon the radio configuration. These were designated as Pz.Bef.Wg.Tiger Ausf.B. They carried a container for the following types: Stabanntenne 1.4m and Sternantenne D; one panzertopf with the Antennenfuss on top of the engine deck; one Antennenfus on top of the turret. 267 was equipped with the Fu5 and Fu8 radio sets. Allowed communication with other armoured units. While 268 had Fu 5 and Fu 7 to allow communication with the air force. Can carry 3 or 6 extensions being 1.4 and 2 meters in length.
They could be utilised while in motion or stopped. If stopped and engine not running a small generator hooked up to a .9 hp engine was utilised. The FuG 8 (star antenne) was usually placed on a mount located aft of the snorkel hole. This mount needs to be made unless provided. Other masts can be placed in the usual place and on the turret roof and on engine deck. The container holding the extra masts and extensions is placed on the rear of the engine deck at the extreme edge.
This configuration will have 3 masts applied. Other configurations can consist of two masts standard length on hull and turret. two masts one on turret and second on hull rear right side with extensions. Wire lead running from mast too connector. Lead going to standard mast location or to connector on rear deck by snorkel hole. Extensions are used to increase the range. FuG 8 can also be placed on top of extensions. Hopefully this is not confusing. I can send pics if needed. With all this done interior modifications are needed.

Thanks for the info. I do have a number of aftermarket command tank antenna sets to use. I am also wondering about the actual numbering that may have been on the command vehicles in those particular units. I know how the numbering sequence was arranged but understand that some units starting using obscure numbering systems for the command tanks so they would be harder to identify. I really want to make this tank historically accurate (as much as possible)so I would like to get it right on this tank.

All my information is derived from Waldemar Trojca books. If you are looking to make a stab vehicle. Most stabs consisted of 3 vehicles. schw. 503 used roman numerials, most were 00?,, 505 stab were 50?, 506 were 01 501 were 501. Most had their numerals on the side of the turret some had them on the barrel. Anything else? Glad to be of assistance.

Hi,
sPzAbt.505 Stab Tigers used the roman numerals 'I', 'II'& 'III'.
The only photos I'm aware of, of 505 Stab 'Kingtigers' are of 'I' & 'III'.
Here: http://www.tiif.de/thread.php?threadid=82&sid=

The numerals were painted on each side of the gun mantlet sleeve and on the turret rear hatch.

The numerals appear to be Black with a White outline.

HTH, Grant.

EDIT:

Like so..
