I'm doing some research on Peru's military and a vehicle listed as "Repontec" keeps coming up. I'm guessing its a wheeled AFV of some sort, but I really have no idea. I can't find anything on it online, but I figured someone here might know.

Joe, I can't find anything on this vehicle either...
However, I'm checking with my Central/South American contacts to see what they know. BTW, one of the guys who I already contacted and is VERY knowledgeable about CA/SA vehicles hasn't heard much about it either. I was very surprised. More later hopefully.

I appreciate you asking around. Its listed in the IISS The Military Balance, which in my experience means it could be a total fabrication or was long ago disposed of, but remains in the list because they can't find anything about it and just carry it over from year to year.

According to the bits of information I've found, the CADOPLA Mk3 Repontec is a South African Mine-resistant armoured troop carrier, used in jungle areas in anti-terrorist and anti-narcotraffic operations. 4 have been purchased by the Peruvian Navy (maybe in 1992...).

Holy Guacamole. Frenchy didn't come up with any photos? That is unheard of!
With that being said, the info Frenchy found is the same as I've found...

Hi Patrick
I know that "impossible is not a French word"... but I also know when to admit failure . Looks like Joe is right !
What is strange is that searching for either "cadopla" or "repontec" gives NO significant result...
I'll do better next time

Well. I've done more digging and STILL can't find anything about a "Repontec". In fact I then contacted "our" WarWheels.net Central/South American vehicle expert and he can't find anything either. THEN... he checked with his other contacts and they have no info as well.
HOWEVER, we might have an answer after finding all this nothing. WW Content Editor Dave Haugh did some extensive digging AND... of course he couldn't find anything specifically about the Repontec also.
BUT, after all his research, he thinks that this "Repontec" vehicle might in fact really be a Peruvian Casspir. He sent me a bunch of circumstantial evidence to support his view and coupled with the fact that Peru fields the Casspir, I also agree with him.
TO JOE: I've forwarded Dave's info to you this morning so you can assess.
Whew.
