Hi all,
I have read many of your articles, and I can say that they are all very helpfull, especialy for beginers like me. All your dios look so realistic and I hope to reach your level some day ( after few years of training I think). I haven't made any diorama yet, (although I wish to make one ). I have a TAMIYA kit (german soldiers at rest) and also a kit German infantry machine-gunners. Unfortunately I have no idea about the story that my first dio should have, so I think that I must see 2 - 3 war films in order to get an idea. If you have any idea availiable it would be a relief for me..........I suppose it is not necessary to compain these 2 kits.

Welcome, not just to the site but to the hobby. while war movies can give you ideas for a dio, they are not the only source. For example I get most of my ideas from books and historical related materials. The list of what can inspire {spelling???} a dio is endless. The fig sets you mentioned are good sets, and they can let themselves to many good ideas. The important thing is to relax, and enjoy the hobby. I guess what I'm saying is watch a movie, look through a book the ideas will come. Start small and have fun with it. I hope I have been of help, and again welcome to the site.

Welcome to Armorama IGI. We are glad to have you join our community. As far as your first diorama goes, like you said watching a couple of war movies might give you some ideas. I sometimes get inspiration from watching old documentaries or just by totally making things up. You can do just about anything you can think it as long as it is historically accurate.

Welcome IGI. Much as wolfsix stated sometime the pictures and descriptions of events in books can be some of the best inspration. Pictues are my usaual source for ideas. Reading about an event and then finding images of the location (period pictures) then on from there. As I do research, images form in my head as to what it may have looked like and then I try to duplicate it. That in turn causes a need for additional research for accuracy.

Welcome IGI:
The guys are 100% right about finding pictures for help (which I haven't tried yet), I like to make things up. Make your first one simple not necessarily small but simple.Find what kind of base you want then work on your scenery and ground cover which makes dios. so much fun and different from just building a model.
Good luck and be careful out out there.

welcome to the site IGI and i agree with the other guys. Ideas for dioramas can also come from simple and strange questions like: "How many german soldiers can get on a CD?" (i managed to put 5)

I watched a movie a few years ago and I believe it was called "Europa Europa". It was a good movie with an interesting plot. Anyway, there is one scene where a group of German Infantry are on the move and they stop for a rest. Most of the soldiers basically fall where they are standing and start sleeping etc... Maybe that scene might work for you.

welcome to Armorama IGI... you dont have to use both kits in a diorama.for example; build two vignettes..first one the MG team in a machine gun post or bunker in firing position, the second one can be the same diorama when the soldiers resting.

Many thanks guys,
It is good to talk to so many people at once, solving any problem. I think I will make a simple dio for the begining: 4 german soldiers resting at the one side of a road. I'll use a tree made of metal wire, and maybe a small stone wall as many villages in Greece have.
