What are the actual German color names that make up the desert scheme applied to the Marder 1A5 and Boxer serving in Afghanistan? Revell shows three colors in their scheme but doesn't provide their actual names. Also, Revell seems to show three browns, but the pictures i have look like a beige, a brown and the "Helloliv" Thanks

Vallejo names 5 in their new set but I am not exactly sure which is used:
RAL 1039 Sandbeige
RAL 1040 Lehmbeige
RAL 8031 Sandbraun
RAL 6040 Helloliv
RAL 7050 Tarngrau

Hi!
The colour schemes used by German army are different depending on the area in Afghanistan in which the vehicles are operated. Actually there are two different colour schemes and different colours in use. If you do a google search for "Marder Afghanistan" plenty of pictures come up and you will notice the difference in these two schemes.

I suggest picking up the Tankograd GECON-ISAF book. It contains colour swatches of the paints and shows them at factory standard, light weathering, and heavy weathering. There is no 100% correct answer as to the exact shade they should be.

The book also shows excellent images of the Marders in two variations of the two colour cam pattern in Afghanistan. The book also points out the various colours by name on Bundeswehr vehicles in Afghanistan....Carl Schulze knows his stuff!

I have seen images of Marders in Afghanistan in two colour and three colour patterns....and variations of those patterns to add to the selections. Perhaps pick a version you want to depict and then try to narrow down which colours you will need?

If you Google image search "Marder Afghanistan" you will find plenty of images to choose from.

Thanks...I think the book is the way to go. I am doing a review of the Vallejo paint set so I want to try to get the combos correct
