Good day all
I had a disapointing result with Blacken-it
I have a set of Friulmodel tracks to do, I cleaned the tracks with lacquer thinner to remove any oil , let dry for a day and I had a new bottle of Blacken-it poured it into a plastic cup and put the trackes in it, after 10 minutes I removed the tracks and hardly turned them black. disapointed I washed them off and my wife does stained glass and she uses a product Novacan Black Patina. I tried this and after 3 minutus the tracks were black. looking at the two products they are the same color, I do not have a MSDS to compair the two, but a little bottle of Blacken-it 4 oz was 10.00 and the other was $5.00 for 8 oz it is made by a company called NOVACAN IND out of Canada you might give it a try and its a lot cheeper.

I've had a few things that Blacken-It has had a problem with. They all did eventually turn, but a couple did take a good long soaking. I guess it's all in the composition of the metal.
