What are the differences M vs M1 ?
I'm a little bit lost with T-72 naming/coding/versions.

Would these fit the bill ?
As I believe they were taken before 1993, they may show "M's" not "M1's"

Hi Raul;
India too the best of my knowledge only recieved m1 from either Poland or another Country, only much later did they Purchased up-grades from the Soviets. Indias Tank Fleet were a mixture of Vinyantas,T-55s,AMX-13s, And i think some Centurians. You mite ask JD, hes Better on the T-72 subject.
CHEERS; MIKE.

Nice picture Frenchy maybe it is a T-72M picture is not very clear, Indian army receive T-72 URAL from soviet union and some sources said T-72M from Poland, later India begin to manufacture the T-72M1 but pictures of the first T-72 are really rare :-(

Thank you for the link, Raul.
I already have it but didn't think to look at it.
So M : flat faced turret, front hull with 5 bars under the driver's periscope
M1 : "Dolly Parton" turret, up-armoured front hull with 2 bars under the driver's periscope.
Too bad, the pic I have is of a M1...
