Here’s where I’m at, for my next scratchbuilt I plan on doing the (SEE) Small Emplacement Excavator. I started off by looking at what tires are used. The SEE wheels are 12.5 R20 X LPR, sitting on 11x20 rims. During my search the closest I can come to are the Trumpeter M1078 LMTV tires. They are not really off; however the tire pattern is slightly different.
So I ask…can anyone help. Has anyone used aftermarket resin tires for their LMTV and have the kit ones/extras laying around, if so I need two (2) sets from the Trumpeter kit…or the least six (6), four for the truck and two spares.
If you can help please PM me so I can get started on my project which I plan on taking to the AMPS show in Atlanta next April.
Happy Modeling,
Joe

PM me your mailing address and you can have the ones from my Trump M1078. I bought the DEF Model wheels so they are not being used. Do you need just the wheels or the hubs too?

What scale are you thinking about doing this in? The SEE truck was built on a Unimog Chassis, and you might be able to get some exact tires for a Unimog in the scale you need. Hope it helps, I have operated a SEE truck and aside from the front bucket being almost useless it was a pretty cool setup.

Jason many many thanks, You now have me in motion. PM inbound. I think Santa now has you on the extra nice list this year.
@ Brian my SEE will be built in 1/35th. I know that it’s built around the Unimog chassis and I have plenty of walkarounds that will be handy, however I may need some info so if I may can I call on you for insight.
You say I can score a set of tires from Unimog, do they make scale models? I might have to look into this.
I’m now finishing up my drawings of the cab, my plans are to scratch up the cab and make a mold of it. Then once my SEE is finished I will work on the rest of the parts to mold up and hopefully one day sell it affordable to those who seek one.

Thanks Joe,
However I have Jason to thank, he offered a set. Here a question…your tires, how wide are they the ones I need are around 11mm wide, also what other use would those tires be used on, a cargo trailer or something. Just thinking ahead for another future scratchbuild project.
Happy Modeling,
Joe

Hi Joe,
I have the SEE on my to-build list since a while. To me the biggest problem is the right cabin for the truck. I once tried the old Tamiya "Bigfoot" UNIMOG toy, but found the cab to clumsy. I think that there are several Die-Cast UNIMGO kits out there but I think they are to pricy to convert.

Joe,Hans what about the Revell kit #03082 Unimog as a base for your builds. This might work so your scratch builds can be manufactured so the rest of us can get it. Hint-Hint.

Thanks Joe, I'm going to look into the kit, the cab is no good though but the frame and chassis may be of help.
