Are the fuel drum carried on the back piped and link to the engine and how ( and if so, does anyone have photo please?)? Or are they just tank from which crew would pump diesel in the other fender tank or the inner tanks?

The fuel drums located on the rear wall are not piped into the fuel system on the T-55, [except T-55AM variant]. The small zip box carries the pump to allow fuel to be transferred to the fuel cells on the fenders etc.
