Thanks for replying so swiftly and comprehensively!
I have to say the sand looks so real I genuinely thought you had used real sand and maybe mixed it with thinned glue and the lego bricks were to hold it in a block shape while it dried.
Very impressive! And the same for the rest of the diorama again!

very little progress, today. just start with roots (from, well... real roots from my backyard) and vegetation.
I'm too tired to go ahead tonight, and just had a try with a single fern's leaf from eduard... not bad. hope to continue soon!

well, the we is near to its end, and I did very little advance... just paint the fern leafs, and try one plant in situ.
it seems too brilliant and evident, compared with the surroundings, I think I have to tone it down, or light up the tones of the woods!

I would just tone down the plant, the woods are colored perfectly

I agree. I think toning down the fern is a good idea. The rest is coming along brilliantly though! I love the roots and rocks and pines. Your method for making the rocks is a lot faster than the one I use!!
