Hello,
I have two Academy 998 I.E.D. Gun Trucks and would like to know if I could build one of these in to a plain open back with just the side rails like the regular M998 with just what comes in the box?
Thanks in advance , George

if memory serves me, the only difference between this kit and the regular M998 kit is the addition of another sprue with the hillbilly armor

I think all the parts are there for you to do it PMMS review of the kit has pictures of the sprues, it looks like all that is missing is the tarp for the rear bed. The soft top and soft doors are in there, as are the troop seats and troop strap for the rear bed. You should be good to go with it. I'd say build away!

Would you use the doors for IED truck witch are half doors with no clear windows or the full doors even though they do not come with any clear windows to fit them in this kit?
Thank you again, George

Just make some windows out of some clear plastic- or you could do it without any doors at all

Ah Ha! I kitbashed the M998 last year from the Italeri kit, and I have the full cargo soft top, soft doors, and clear windows with a wavy texture. I don't know how well the Italeri parts would match up with the Academy one, but would you be interested in that, say through the U.S. Mail? If you need it, just pm me. I'd be happy to help out!

PS: Now I finally scrolled down far enough to see your post that mentions you already have the Italeri one with the full cargo back. Anyway, if you need more parts...

Sorry, no. I rechecked my stuff, and I had used Italeri kits for both kitbashes I had done. I thought one was different than the other, but no, neither was Academy.

If the Academy hummvee is the same as the 2 tamiya hummvees out there, the the doors from italeri hummvees will be 1 /32 of a inch too short i found that out taking revell germany's hummvee ( reboxed italeri) and moving those parts to a tamyia hummvee
