Hey all....I just finished painting my Tamiya T-62....not the greatest of kits....but still....anyway....just finished painting it with MM Russian Armor Green Acrylic, and to me it looks a little on the light side for the color it should be. It is sprayed over grey primer, which would lighten up the green a little bit, but you wouldn't think this much.
My question is....should I wait and spray a second coat of the same color? Or should I use a little black to darken the green down a little and then spray a second coat?
If I should go with the add in a little black.....all I have for black is Tamiya Flat Black. Has anyone mixed Tamiya and MM Acrylic paints together with any success? Figured I would ask on here before I go out and ruin the paint...lol

Just thinking that where they are both acrylic based paints....both can be thinned with water...or alchohol....or windsheild washer fluid...whatever you want to use....that they would mix together ok.....just was wondering if anyone had done it to be sure before I go do it.

Viper I have mixed the two, some in large amounts and small in small. they will work, but it seems when mixing the two brands and airbushing there is a 50/50 chance of getting bubbles in the paint as it dries. that can be a real bummer.
I say it can be done, but it should be done with the warning that you may get some bubbling.

Thanks there PorkChop.....bubbling....hmmmmm any idea what would cause that? Would that depend on how much was used with each? Or how much it was thinned?
Basically what I want to do is add some tamiya flat black to MM Acrylic Russian Armor Green to darken it down some as the first coat I find is too light of a green color....so the ratio from MM to Tamiya would be like 100 to 1 or even more really.

My guess is you can get away with, I have no idea what cuases that reaction, it's only when airbushing and only when those two paints are mixed. It really isn't bad and isn't that noticable. I mix the two all the time.
But since you're working on a large area try the mix on a test item first, OR to be safe, get some of the testors flat black and use that.

Instead of trying to mix another color, why not spray a coat of Tamiya smoke over the model? Or use a couple of thin dark washes to bring it to the depth of darkness you are looking for. Good luck
