What I haven't seen mentioned is whether or not the "new" kit comes with an extended turret storage rack.

The old one did not and as such, you could not represent pretty much any tank post-2003. The only other option is to purchase the Eduard PE rack which is both expensive and near impossible to assemble.

Couldn't you use this instead? The hull is the same as Dragons 3535

Not quite, the M1 Panther doesn't have the proper NBC cover plate and side panel like the M1A1, being built from an M1 hull. See this photo on Prime Portal . It's good for a basic M1 build though!

Is this the extension you asked about (step 16)? Seems like this PE was in the old and new release of 3535.

Yup, that is the same PE set for the 3ID BRE and jerry can racks that was in the prior release. It represents a rack that was only used on 2 BDE, 3 ID tanks from PrePo Draw in Kuwait (APS 5). The racks were locally made and only used during the initial invasion of Iraq in '03.

Elevenbravo is talking about the folding BRE that is in Dragon's M1A2 SEP kit (below), which became standard on M1A1 AIMs in about 04-05.

Thanks Gino. I was not aware of the newer one as 11B stated.

Bummer... that really limits the subjects you can build. Pretty much eliminates any OIF tank (post 2003) as well as current / Aussie tanks.

They have the BRE available, wish they could have included it with the new kit.

You can still build the Australian M1A1 AIM SA out of the Dragon 3535 kit. You just need to do a bit more work here and there. M1A1 AIM SA out of the Dragon 3535 kit

Not all post '03 M1A1 AIMs had the BRE. Depending on which one you are building, you don't need it. Check your references.

If you must have the BRE, there are AM ones available from others besides Eduard. ET Model has one that is pretty nice and much easier to build (ET 35-042).

I got my re-issued kit from HobbyEasy yesterday; found out that the 'goodie bag' was pretty heavy, seems they doubled up on a few things in my kit. Anyone else find extras? Too bad there wasn't an extra fret of the main p.e., or the fender springs!

Jim, I did not see the "extras" in my "new" kit of the 3535. I assume someone is smiling down on you and your efforts!
