Over at ML there's post about a new Tiran 5 kit announced by Tamiya for 2013. Great news!
Hope they'll do it with the correct Czech / Polish engine deck.

First the Enigma - now this! Looks like Tamiya have finally woken up to the potential of their T-55 molds

Can a guy hope that there could be a Tiran 6 in the near future? AND maybe a new updated T-62 from them as well??

Oh, as was I. Looks like I'll get the Type-69-II conversion instead and wait for this to come out.

Why would I need such a model?
I have the Lindberg and the motorized Trumpeter
Tiran 5.

As long as its cheaper than the combined cost of the Legend set and the Tamiya base T-55 and just as accurate I think Tamiya may have a winner. In reality this kit will probably be just as expensive as the Enigma and not have the right engine deck...

I'd think you would need a new T-62 from them before you would see a Tiran 6. Their T-62 is a dog. Maybe Trumpeter would do the 6?

That's the question you'll have to ask yourself with the Legend Tiran 6. I have it, have actually started it, and can't imagine a totally styrene offering from Tamiya being better. Yes, it's a little pricey, but for the same level of detail, you'd be getting a PE set for a Tamiya release, and who know if/when it'll even happen.

I'm with 18Bravo on this one..... Repop, no new engine deck, it will be missing the right details. You'll have to get the Legends, Blast set or scratch to make it worthwhile... I have both the Legend and Blast set and they'll be hard to beat.
Cudos for making the most out of a great kit though.... I wouldn't compare the Trumpy offering or the (gasp!) Lindberg T55 to the Tamiya in the same paragraph...

A member did let us know about this proposed offering from Tamiya however we could only find a number and a title which is why we have not run a story. If they do release further news we will let you know.
