Hi Nige. This is what I am building. Going to build it right out of the box, not going to go crazy on the engine, just want to see the basic colors of the engine. Thanks. Wingman out.

Hi Wingman
Hope this link works
Opel Blitz
looks like the engine colour is the same as the body colour, but I suppose the next question would be are they likely to repaint the engine when they change the colour of the outside ??????
I would reckon it is likely that they might not !!!!!
Good engine pics here too
Try googling as I did with Opel Blits photos
All the best

Thanks Nige, greatly appreciated. Not knowing much about these trucks, is winter camo over a German Gray basecoat plausible for this vehicle? I would like to try the hairspray technique for this build.
Thanks for the help, Wingman out.

I am not much of an authority on WW2 vehicles, but given the various theaters of wart these were employed, it is in my mind very plausible !!!!!!!!
I would think the most important aspect would be the markings and area in the war that you are hoping to depict !!!! Are you intending to use the kit decals as they might give you ideas as a google on the unit's activities might give you a better idea as to where the units might have operated !!!!!!
There are far better informed folks on here that can best advise if you put a shout out as to what decals you have, what you want to depict, and whether the markings might still be usable !!!!!!!!
Good luck

Thanks again Nige. I was wondering if the chasis would be the same color as the rest of the truck or would it be a dark iron color. Thanks for the help, Wingman out.

Hello
That was most popular WW II truck. And yes, you can paint it with winter camo scheme. They were used since 1st September
'39 to last day of war.
I you want some references and want to look on my video about hairspray technique, just pm me
Regards

all the underneath would be German Grey as well as the interior. Which model company kit is this one?

chassis frame was like rest of vehicle. At the beginning of final stage of WW II frames wasn't painted with simple reason, there was not enough paint left. Kit from photo is Dragon/Cyber-Hobby product, I think best on the market now, we have also "ancient" Italeri and little bit "modern" Tamiya. In my opinion, better to invest on ICM kit, because they are very cheap ( 1/3 of that Dragon price ) and the best option is newest Mini Art Mercedes L1500 - it is superb fine kit for superb low cost. OF course it is 1,5t class truck, smaller than Blitz, but really I recommend you

Thanks Cliff. It's from Cyber-Hobby(Dragon). Great detail, I did a dryfit today with the wheels attached and it sat nice and level. Very nice. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

The detail is wonderful on this kit, even the vents on the hood doors are opened up right out of the box. I'm going to practise the hairspray method on an old model part first. Thanks for all the help guys, Wingman out.

Hello again. Were the bench seats covered in leather or cloth and what color would it be? I'll try to post some photos soon, our desktop has been down for awhile getting repaired. Thanks for the help, Wingman out.

Hello. Just about done with the gun. Have to assemble the cab and weather it. Really enjoy the hairspray technique, it's actually quite fun. This is a gem of a kit. I'm going to have the tailgate open along with the left side engine hood. Building this out of the box, thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. Flak gun just about finished, have to apply a little wash yet. This is a little gem of a kit in an already gem of a kit. Wouldn't mind doin' another one of these. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. Started weathering the cargo bed with artist oils and Mig Pigments. I was thinking about going with Dark Mud pigment over the lighter tone to darken it up a bit, any suggestions or comments. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

nice work so far, good painting,
just a pointer, its unlikely that a dark yellow gun would be atop a grey vehicle. as the two schemes are from two different periods of the war. however, this could be plausible, just i believe, unless anyone is willing to correct me, unlikely.
i really like your painting and weathering styles though!! awesome

Thanks James, I wanted some color contrast in this build. Looking to order Tristars Flak 38 accesories and put some stowage in the back and make it look busy. Thanks for info, thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. Started applying Mig Pigments Dark Mud to underside of cargo bed. Does anyone know where I can purchase Tristars Flak 38 accessories, Squadron doesn't show it and Greatmodels says "out of stock"? Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. The cab has been painted and weathered using the hairspray technique and then washed with very diluted raw umber oil paint. The side skirt is a practise piece, I used Mig "dark mud" mixed with Alclads Acryllic Gloss coat to try and get a wet mud look, I think the mud should look a little darker, what do you think? Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. Gettin' there. Applied some mud to the running boards and to the inside of the cab on the floor, I see a tide mark that needs to be removed, it's amazing what the camera picks up. Added a chain to the front, first dipped in Blacken-It with rust colored pigments applied. Next up after this build, ICM's WW2 German Communication Truck. Very cool looking. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. My attempt at snow. Hairspray was brushed on with a foam brush and baking soda was applied through a small sifter onto the colored Cell-U-Clay. The tree is a root that I found years ago when my wife was doing some gardening. I really want to think about how to apply some mud to the tires and make it look as realistic as possible. Any comments? Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. All these views and no comments? I'll take 'em good or bad. That's how we learn and get better at our hobby. This is mt attempt at creating wet looking mud. I tried brushing on Alclad Acryllic Gloss Coat but that didn't work. Then I tried brushing several coats of hairspray, applying each layer after the previous layer had dried. I think that's going to work. I practised on a spare tire before applying it to the model, have to make sure the mud on the tire matches the mud on the groundwork. Thanks again for looking, Wingman out.

Hello. Finished this build. I would highly reccommend this model from Dragon, great fit , great detail, would like to get another one and stow the left over parts from this build into the back of the next one. Hauling it to the junk yard. Thanks for looking and the help, Wingman out.
