This is definitely on my list. Meng is really bringing us some great kits - sight unseen I might even nominate this one as kit of the year. The track spraying mask is pure genius.

Okay, I am officially salivating over this kit now!
Wow, the details look awesmoe! Going to bite the bullet and buy a couple Meng kits (the Tortoise and Merkava too) just to support the company. If they keep doing stuff like this, kudos!

What is making me a little sad right now is that I have 3 AMX30s and and AUF that I just got off eBay. Plus some track sets as well...
Progress costs.
Just remembered that I have the DCX kit too!

The kit looks great, but I will wait for some aftermarket Diehl tracks for it before I buy it... I really want to build an IFOR vehicle and MENG when informed about the wrong tracks for the IFOR version, decided to remove the IFOR markings rather than add late style tracks... Obvious choice from business point of view, but disappointing for us modelers

Ask and you shall receive
Operation Hermine - September 1995. 40th Artillery Regiment
Two SPGs from the same unit near Mostar (Operation Joint Endeavor) :

As I've already said in a previous thread, Concord's "Rolling Steel : NATO's Self-Propelled Guns" book includes some IFOR AuF1 pics (taken in the Mount Igman area) that should come in handy...

Note that all vehicles on these photos have newer tracks. I hope we will get aftermarket tracks of this type soon. Bronco, can you hear us? Or maybe MENG themselves could release them as a separate set? They will need them anyway, if they plan to make BRENNUS one day.

@Frenchy
Thanks a lot for the excellent images! great service .. als always *gg*
@Hans-Hermann
Some AUF pics in position atop Mt. Igman are printed in the Concord Publications book "The Blue Helmets Under Fire" ISBN: 962-361-726-7. Take a look at page 89/90. If you don´t own the book shoot me a PM ;-)
@Pawel
Just wondering if the Phebus Maquettes Resin Tracks will fit - have it somewhere in my stash. Maybe the Bronco Ariete Tracks AB3527 will also be good for this.
Cheers
Walter

Ariete tracks are unfortunately too wide for AMX30

Damn, I just realized that Diehl tracks are used with a different sprocket wheel! So we need tracks and new sprockets

So, if I want to build an Iraqi vehicle during the Iran/Iraq war, would I need newer tracks, or are the kit tracks correct for that conflict?
Thanks for all the pics, Frenchy!

I guess the kit tracks should be OK...

Kit tracks are fine for these vehicles. But you will need to add side skirts and crew access ladders - nothing particularly difficult, I added them to my old Heller AuF1.
Like on these Saudi vehicles:

Iraq received their Auf1 in the 80's if my memory is still right. The late tracks are a 90's mod so Iraq can't have their AUF1 retrofited.
I hopes that Meng will do a seperate set for late tracks and sprockets but i can't miss this beautifull kit even if i'll can't do an IFOR one.

@ Frenchy
Merci bien mon ami.
@ Walter
Thanks for the offer, but I think the pics in the Rollig Steel book are enough. Firts I have to finish some other projects
Now we only need to convince Djiti`s Production to make a proper crew for gun
