I saw this on ebay and I was astonished by the price. Can someone explain why this figure is worth 1,600 dollars.

It costs 340 Roubles so about 11 USD ,8 Euros and 7 GBU
It must be an embarrassing huge mistake !
10.1699 GBU + 10 GBU for postage, it isn't cheap but it sounds better
anyway, they also sell a PENCIL which only costs about 1200 Euros

A bargain indeed!

You see a lot of stupid things on eBay, if you look hard enough and NONE of it is worth revealing as common sense should be your guide.

I don't know what that seller hopes to achieve but it must be some sort of scam somewhere along the way. Makes me ashamed to be british. $1600 for a packet of sanitary towels?

If it were true, that would be an incredibly silly scam! I think that ANYONE would be so fool to buy these items at such ridiculous prices!
They might have used a sort of computer process to insert the prices in the web pages....but apparently something has gone wrong

Hi Alex,
Simple answer is it is not, unless someone decides to pay that ridiculous amount of money and then it is worth it to him/her, but I doubt they would get a return on their investment Still stranger things have happened,
Good laugh though

Well, this penny guy isn't selling a penny. If you look a bit further, you'll see his scam is he will post positive feedback if you make a one penny bid. However, he does say if you want the penny, he'll have it for you at his home. Now, the thing to do is for all of us in other countries to swamp him with bids and force him to loose moneyon every transaction or incur much negative feedback.

It's pretty clearly a mistake in that if you subtract the first two digits from the £ price then you get what sounds like the likely actual price, so £2.99 for the ruler, 99p for the pencil etc. £16.99 still sounds too much for this figure, the RRP is more like £10.99.
I see that this dealer uses a service to list the stuff on Ebay called Frooition, and it's a fantastic advert for them...!
"...our eBay Store and Listing designs come with design management software, which allows you to create your listing from inside your account and list directly to your eBay Shop, saving you both time and money.
(Not only is this nice addition easy to use, it comes with full support from our team of eBay Experts so you can get the most out of your eBay with our fantastic tools)"

Maybe it's solid gold and primered over. A way of smuggling gold out of the country?
