Does anyone know where to buy resin .50 cal. ammo belts? I've found ones from Live Resin which are 7.62 and some from Barrel Depot which are marked 1/35 - 1/48 (no caliber). Are there any others? I have nothing against photo-etched belts except they look simply 2-dimensional which is not what I want. Does anyone who has used the photo-etched type have info on how to make them look real?

I used dimensional paint on my PE ammo belt which adds some volume to them. Looks ok in the ammo box but obviously wouldn't cut them apart to use as spent casings.
Dimensional paint is what they use on fabric and is readily available at Michael's. Can't remember the brand off hand but if you send me a reminder message I'll look it up and respond when I get home.

The russian company Tank has a set of cal.50 ammo belt in resin.
Live resin has it too in view for future release if my memory is still good.

Tasca includes nice ones with their .50 cal & .30 cal sets, which are also superb for plastic.

Mission Models have the ultimate .50 set if you have the eyes, patience, and manual dexterity - individual turned brass rounds and spent casings (with the ends bored out), and insanely tiny PE clips to bend and link the rounds together to make a belt. But I would go with the Tasca ones.

I saw those mission model ones, I'd love to meet the person with the dexterity and patience to build them. That would be a person of incredible skill, calmness and fortitude! Not me!

My money is on the Tasca ones even though you have to buy a set of guns to get two 50rd belts. I do like the way they mould them upright so there's no mould seam all the way around each an every bullet.
A few other ammo belt observations.
The Barrel Depot ones are soft plastic so they're flexible and are 3mm long so work for 30cal/7.92 in 1/35 or .50 cal in 1/48.
The Academy MG set while having nice guns has undersized belts, the .50 is really .30 and the .30 is closer to 7.62.
The Voyager ones are great but boy do you need the patience of a saint, likewise the Mission Models ones.
I've used PE ones when I'm feeling masochistic buy adding Mr. Surfacer 500 to each side as it pools nicely and forms a rounded half on each side. Then I add tiny paper punchouts to the ends to form the rim base as the Mr. Surfacer also rounds off at the base so you end up with the belted look. It's not hard but it is time consuming.

>.30 Cal & 7.62mm are exactly the same diameter and the WW II .30 round is almost the same size as the NATO 7.62 round, certainly not enough to notice the difference. Are you thinking, perhaps, of the 5.56mm (.223") round instead of the 7.62?

Yeah sorry, I was thinking of the ammo belts for the 5.56 C9 and the like.

Paul, the 30.06 (30 Cal) Round is significantly longer than the 7.62 x 51 NATO round. It is over 1/2" longer in the case than it's younger offspring which is almost the same difference between the 5.56x45 NATO and the 7.62 NATO Round. it is quite noticeable in 35th.

My favorites so far are Tasca in styrene and Mission Models if you can find them, but I have just ordered the .50 M2 and the belts, cases, and links to go with it from Live Resin...when I get them, I'll probably give you guys a look at how it works out.

Can you post a photo of the individual links themselves?

Hi Robert, unfortunately I did not buy that set. Maybe next time. But I can be sure of one thing, going by everything I have bought from Live Resin, the end product looks exactly the same as his computer graphic ! here is the link to the product.

Wow! Those look really sweet. I've only see the CAD images before, never an actual casting. They look amazing! They go together OK?

Czech post just delivered all my stuff from Live Resin..this stuff is pretty good! I have the spent cases and belt links sets and the M2HB set. (Now that I have Tank, Live Resin, and K59 M2 .50 cal sets, I can say that K59 still blows them away.) The TANK M2HB is actually a tiny bit more accurate a replica than the Live Resin gun, but in VERY minor details. I do like the belt links and belts, the only molded ammo belts so far where the links are visible and clear and should paint beautifully. I have an Academy M113 that has the rather poor Academy M2HB mounted on top, I plan to replace it with either the TANK or Live Resin gun..haven't decided yet.

Any chance you could do a comparison review thread?

"The TANK M2HB is actually a tiny bit more accurate a replica than the Live Resin gun"
Its absolutely not true. Live Resin is engineering model, created with use real blueprints M2.
TANK - Tasca resin copy

Sorry dude...then your blueprints forgot the bottom eject opening, the slot screw at the back of the buffer tube, the hex nut underneath for the breech cam. Plus, the TANK, Tasca, and K59 give me the option to open or close the feed cover, the feeder tracks are molded in the top of the bolt, and K59 gives me PE spade grip brackets, triggers, a correct rear sight for WW2 (with telescope dovetail) and PE for the feeder mechanism inside the top cover.
You might have blueprints, but I own the real live GUN.
Now..I've also sent you guys an Email regarding my order, a few small issues I'd like resolved. Like I said, this stuff is good..the belts are excellent. Now if we can just get the correct number of ITEMS per package, we'll be doing great.
