hello,I'm starting a build (well already building the engine) of the roden Kraz 214B and have some questions
searching the net I often get on russian sites and I find the autotranslators kinda "incorrect sometimes"
so there are real addepts and experts on the subject right here

question 1 I read in the in box review that the parts for the 255B are in the box, are there things not included?

Question 2 heard and noticed something differs in the tyres between them too...?

Question 3 are there any build logs or WIP's of this kit around already?

Now for the build so far, the engine seems quite detailed but has rather enoying misalignement issues on most parts, and noticed quite some sinkmarks, reminded me of Zvesda and Skiff quality of before but on the other hand it has some small details like bolts and filtergrill, going to try to flicker some pictures here tomorrow,if all goes fine

Hi Tha Pit!
The Roden also "promised" the
255 for 2012... I'm waiting for that kit

A very nice walkaround of the KrAZ 214, that might help with the build:

I wrote the review here at Armorama. From what I can tell, you will need to replace the fuel tanks for the 255B. The 255 has round tanks like a semi truck, while the 214 has flat, square tanks. The headlight assembies and lenses for the 255 are in the kit. The wheels look the same to me. The 255 has a diesel engine as opposed to the 214s gas (petrol) engine. The diesel engine looks very different.

KRaz 255 engine.

well Gino, thought about doing the 255B with a closed hood, but , I think I'm going OTTB with this one, to little time, to many things to build

promised some pics, and after a long long time away from posting my works here on Armorama,I gonna give it another try this 2013

Kraz214B

Kraz214B

already cleaned some up, and assembled the chassis, engine

looking at the reff there is "room" for improvement,I'm gonna keep it to cosmetics, not to get carried away and spend months on thing noone will ever see or notice afterwards;)

better pics will follow,I hope

back,
and might I say, not a happy modeller,

Roden?? did you guess try to make the kit???

noone noticed that there are holes missing, cardanaxels too short, thick enoying seams on allmost every part

and a plan that's made for people with paranormal gifts, put it somewhere overthere (with a vage arrow)
had to test fit a lot before I was sure what went where..

left and right often wrong part numbers
very confusing, and some parts are attached to another with almost zero attachment space (steering T like thingies on the inside of front wheels)
took picture as example, the right front has a servo attached, but no holes are there, and backside of parts with a rectangular attachment has to fit in an non existent round hole??

the rear suspention has some doubtfull attachment with the chassis, had to soften it again with some glue just to get'm alligned, wil take pics 2morrow of running chassis

for now this actual , and intruction plan

thanks Floggerspam, yes I tend to get carried away sometimes, don't have the guts to post all my works,I average 1kit every 2/3weeks

still, this rodentruck is giving me a hard time, like I said before, they probably never build it, or didn't take the trouble of fixing some "thingies"

got the chassis near completion yesterday, euh till this morning;)

picture 1 instructions , part C11 is part E11! (times4)

picture2 the attachments of part "E11" is missing on one side of the "pont" so had to scratch them.

picture3 had to make new cardan because it was to short

picture 4 how I managed (by trail and error) to fit the steering servo

Hello!
fixing the front springs on the model is very large. They have to be shortened.
please read this blog.

Looking good
Can I ask does the kit come with the supports for the tarpalin on the bed or did you make them?
I know the kit comes with a transparent tarplalin but it looks very soft detail wise.
Thanks for sharing

thanks guys

Dan:"might just have to get one based on what i've seen here."

going to have to have a lot of patience and the will to get some hours into walkarounds and stuff of intrest, and it's not an easy kit if you want it to fit right

David: thanks ,the rails were in the kit, some cleanup and thinnin the ends made them fit into the holes nicely
didn't wanne use the clear thingy, hasn't got the right feel and misses detail like flaps .

thanks guys, whiles doing some other stuff,I took the liberty to put on a coat of clear after the other sides where scratched using the good old hairspray methode, then already started with the oils to have some different shades of yellow in it, and some rust tones, will enhance those further as I go,but I learned not to rush those things and let'm dry some

Looking really nice! After seeing all the "green builds", that yellow color is an interesting choice.
