Toni, still one of the best little vignettes I've seen... Hey, who's that in your new avatar?

Well, it has got a pic of Adi Galland as base, and some of my face plus moustache and grin. Heh.
I wanted to put these photos here just because they show the "right" colours of the model, the photographer used a flashlight creating neutral light! Also some details like the powder marks on snow and the cut of the tree are more visible here.

Hello Field Artillery Sergeant Envar,
I'm a beginner and I've had an advice that my first dio should be a small dio that i can learn how to make a dio. And I saw your vignette and I like it. Can you tell me what about how you did make that figure?
Thanks,
Rick

Heh. Thanks guys!
Rick:
There is a feature article about building the White Death where the process is described: FEATURE: White Death
Basically itīs modified and sculpted over German Ski Troop figure.
It was my second dio/vignette and I havenīt been able to top that ever since. Sometimes everything just "clicks"!

Hey Toni. You are setting the standard now for snow and frost dios. I guess coming from Finland you have that first hand experience? You should attempt a basic homepage, for your impressive works where we can see them altogether!
Keep them coming!

Thanks! I have had that homepage thing in my mind for quite some time now but it seems I donīt have the time for it. And because I do graphic design (also web) for my regular job I criticise my own projects too much.
I have the modeling book in the making and I have to find the time to start the building projects for that as well...
The snow IS the thing for me...But Iīm trying to get into some other things pretty soon. So far itīs been the themes that have decided the snow thing for me...
Right now Iīm sketching another sniper vignette, with a German sniper in a bell tower.
And itīs raining!

A good reference for this idea would be the scene in Kellys Heros. The yanks are surrounding the small town protected by three tigers and one of them is stationed in a bell tower as spy/sniper. Might give you some ideas to see this

Toni,
This proves that expensive kits and aftermarket updates are not indispensable to make a perfect diorama. This belongs to the best of the best.
I read the story of your marksman (sniper is not a popular word at this moment) in your feature article.
I never would have guessed how difficult it is to shoot correctly over long distances in the cold, till I experienced it in the army. When the temperature is about ten below, your fingers freeze to the metal of gun and trigger. Wearing gloves is not the best option either, since you loose on precision when you don't "feel" the trigger. Very few people are able to pinpoint a moving target at sitances over 400 m without scope, certainly not in freezing temperatures and snow. Hats of to your marksman !
