Hi,
I have some NVA Regulars to paint in 1/35th scale.
I am using Vallejo Model Colour paints but will try others if necessary.
What colours should I use for their uniforms, webbing, etc?
Thankyou for your help.

Joe.

Joe,

Did you mean North Vietnamese Army or National Volks Army from the DDR?

Thanks for getting back to me.
John, its North Vietnamese Army & not the German guys I need.
Thanks for the picture references, Frenchy. However, the reference states 988 Khaki for the uniform & I'm sure I have that colour at home (I'm not there right now) & it doesn't match the uniform colour of the illustration. I might be wrong though...
Thanks, anyway guys, for your help.

Joe.

Joe,
it kinda depends on what and when, plus where your putting them.

Lao/ Vietnam border areas were usually in green, but not everytime. Many simply wore black silk PJ's. Towards the coast you run into them in green and khaki colors. The last one I met face to face wore Khakis in late 68, yet 80% of them wore green or PJ's. Some wore black tennis shoe looking boots and others wore sandles and a few wore flip flops. Their belts were always green with a silver buckle. I've even seen columns of them in mixed uniforms, so I guess they didn't have much of a dress code to go by!

color of the helmet is right for khakis, but the green in the painting is kinda off. It's more of a forest green. The web belt is for an SKS, and probably only saw a half dozen of them. But did see the chest pack for 30 round AK mags a little bit out on the border. Most of the time they had two mags (30 round). But you also saw a lot of them carrying M2 carbines and M16's. Never saw anybody with shoes like that! Probably issed much later than my time
