Mineral spirits/ White spirits/Mineral turpentine.
Whats the difference?
which (or what else) can be used to thin enamel for spraying thru an airbrush without turning my latest build into a gooey mess?
I have used Mineral Turps to remove enamel paint in the past and its melted what I was working on.
I have found it also melts Styrene glue and Cyanoacrylate when you have made a mistake or want to rebuild something.Simply apply with a cotton Bud (Q tip) and it works a treat. i just removed a turret from an M113 which was glued in place and needed work.

Paint thinner. I use paint thinner for enamels and lacquers. I use the cheap stuff from my local hardware store or Walmart. I have found that the brand specific thinners work better. But, the difference is not enough to account for the higher cost.

I used to ignore all the hype surrounding the use of same manufactures spirit in favour of using the cheap household stuff. But i have since learned that diy spirit is hot and can melt plastics over time (washes over a few hours can attack the plastic)most art spirit and those sold by the weathering guys are cool or cold and dont seem to melt plastics or enamel paints.
What i would do is to try diffrent spirits to you find one you like,i prefer bartoline for general use and ak or mig for washes/filters.

For Enamels I've been using Stop Klean Mineral Spirits from Home Depot, and never had any issues with it attacking glue or plastic. I don't use that much of it even in a filter or overall wash, so it evaporates fairly quickly.
