Typical I start building RPM's FT17 after having it for years and then Italeri announce a new tool one in 1/35.
Talk about Sods law. Not that I'm complaining mind you as it'll be interesting to see another manufacturers take on it as I think it's a great looking tank. RPM's seems ok (if fiddly) so far.

I'll be getting one as soon as possible. A major in my unit was responsible for bringing two back to the US from Afghanistan. I'd like to do a little scene of him "discovering" one of them. Can't have a better reference - he's still a friend of mine.

Great idea. I came across something the other day about FT17's in Afghanistan but haven't got round to reading it yet. Be interesting to hear more about the Major in your unit and the FT17's.

If you Google it you can find the story. One site erroneously calls him an armor officer (which I guess you might have been at one point) although he was a non tabbed in my SF unit. He is now a LTC in an infantry battalion.
I plan to call him, just as soon as I send him some phots of us I promised him last year - from 10 years ago!

Finally I can build one without having to scratch build my *ss off! haha
I'm hooked on building finish armour at the moment so this will come in handy.
Also, the FT's found in Afganistan are amazing. I would have loved to the officer seeing them and realizing what they are!
