Check this link. You'll see pics of the kit & sprues of the new Tamiya Tiran 5.
I wonder if it has the correct engine deck. Checking my references now!!

Hi Patrick
Building this for a feature in TMMI, the Tiran was built on both Czech and Soviet T-55, if the Tamiya Tiran has the original deck parts, then lots of work to put right.

I am going to assume that this means that we will likely see a Tiran 6 in the near future as well. Good times, good times.

Actually a Tiran 6 would be more like a paper panzer. While the IDF was planning on making a T-62 based Tiran, theirs plans were cut short by the massive influx of M60s from the U.S. and the fact that many of the T-62's they went up against suffered fairly catastrophic fires.

Well I hope not. Tamiya's T-62 is a true pile of sh*t kit and I hope it remains long forgotten about.

Not bad. Lime their recent M51, it could use a little refinement on some of the parts, ie, spare .50 barrel bracket, which is too thick. Also perhaps a set of Legend fuel lines.

Hi;
Well i never thought i would never make a negetive comment But i thought this kit was a Disapointment, Tamiya really did not improve the Base kit. from the Pics, they still haveent fixed the issues regarding the Sponsons, or the Open Periscopes, there just open Holes, Now for my Money the could have Really DONE SOMETHING like PROVIDED the Fuel lines for the Rear Fuel Fender Tanks. Another issue as far as im concerend. Well ill leave that up to you !!!
SORRY TAMIYA; MIKE.

Looks nice enough, I've got the Blast conversion but think I'll get this one anyway. Crew figures look excellent too!
Cheers,

They're going to use the engine deck of the older kit. Lantrun exemplar is derived from a Czech made T-55
However, I'm not sure about, but I think that some Tiran 5 were built starting from Russian made exemplars
However, It's seems a quite good model

Yes it is! Or at least, it' s a too old kit...for a Tiran 6 model we should hope in Trumpeter
Anyway, I'm sorry for the OT...but what about this 1/16 beast?

A paper panzer? How so? They were built, crewed, and used.... just not in combat. I think there are a few guys here at the big A that were actually IN them.

Hi all,
I've a spare T55 in the stash, one without a conversion or other planned. I picked up the Legend Tiran 5 conversion last weekend at the local club open day
OK I'll swap out the FN mags for.30 cals.
Do I need to know anything else, are there any horrors? Or do I really have to spend a big sum on a kit I don't really need.
Thanks
Rog.

Is the Czech engine deck the one included in the Blast Models T-55 update set?
