Hello,
This is my first post here on the forum and I want to show you my latest project. It is a railway signal box in 1/35 scale.
Inspired by many great brick buildings in here I decided to build the ground floor in brick using cork. This is my first attempt to use cork as brick.
As soon as the balsawood arrives in the mail, I will be completing the exterior on the first floor.
My thoughts was to include this building in a railway station diorama.
Any input is welcome

That looks fantastic! I cant wait to see it finished. May I suggest a Russian theme for the diorama.
Thanks for sharing.

This is a very nice build although i would prefer seeing the bricks in a straight line!

Welcome to the board

I have made roof tiles out of cardboard. I will post a picture of it as soon I take one.

I know, it has irritated me some days now. I must pay more attention to that on future buildings!

Hi Clemens. You captured the signal tower nicely. Great job with the cork bricks. To keep them striaght, draw horizontal lines on your base card before assembling ... its easier to keep them lined up after that. The bricks might be a bit too big. The small windows on the lower floor are only four bricks tall. I try to cut the lengths of cork at 2mm wide, and although I dont always succeed in keeping them perfect, its not a bad size for 1/35.

What keeps you from redoing a few lines right away? If you redo the two lines above the arched window you will be almost good!
It would be worth it because if ir bothers you now already it will bother you later also and you will never be completely satisfied with the build.

Just do it!

I think so too, my bricks are 4mm.

I think I will redo a couple of lines tomorrow. Its not to late yet

This is how the roof looks like now. I have also started on the interior of the upper floor.

To my eyes the bricks are large and irregular enough that it would be better to have them represent stone - perhaps make the upper floor brick.

I havent had so much time to build lately so it has been a long time since the last update.
Anyway, here is the latest progress.

New bricks on the lower floor.
Balsawood on the walls of the upper floor.
Started on the interior. The painting is not finished.
