Also that crane would not be too awfully hard to scratch build on the back of the new Bussing-Nag kit.

And the Bilsen 8 ton crane. This conversion used to be available from both Calibre 35 and Tank Workshop I believe.

Gents, I will say here what I said in the other thread:

IT AIN'T A FAMO!!!

It's a Sd.Kfz.9. FAMO (Fahrzeug- und Motorenbau GmbH (FAMO) in Breslau) was just one of several companies including Vomag and Tatra who built the design. We don't call an Sd.Kfz.251 a Hannomag anymore, thank God, let's get this term retired.

As to why there isn't more competition, softskins (with the exception of the Sd.Kfz.7) are NOT big money makers. As far as I know, the only companies who've gone head-to-head in that category are Dragon & Trumpeter over the 7.

As to the Bilstein crane, you're thinking of Tiger Models and not Tank Workshop.

Bill I saw your comment in the other thread, (which is why I put the term Famo in parentheses above) - just for you!

Not trying to be rude in the slightest but it might just be that the popularity of the term "Famo" for the Sd.Kfz. 9 might have something to do with Tamiya's use of the name on the box:

or

Also many vehicles gain a popular name that may have nothing to do with the manufacturer there of. Recalling some good times around the Museum; when someone said bring out the Demag I knew to go get the Sd.Kfz. 10, one tonne halftrack, even though this particular one, I believe might have been built by Saurer.

Something a bit different by way of an unusual load for the Sd.Kfz. 9 and trailer. This time an oil filled electrical transformer!
