The door of the turret ammunition compartment is presented open in the DML kit. Shouldn't it be closed (unless you want to present the Abrams firing...) as this door is normally opened by the loader (with his knee) and shuts automatically.
Just wondering...
TIA

Hey Frenchy,
You are in fact correct. The blast door stays closed unless the loader opens it( using the knee switch) to remove a round. This is for crew protection in the case of a fire in the turret ,or, a round manages to penetrate the ammo compartment of the turret .
Or of course if you need it open to "bomb up".

Good point there Frenchy , the ammo door is like a elevator door except it is a lot heavier . I just used a piece of evergreen plastic to fix the door on my DML M1A1. The door is also left in the fully open position when the crew is up-loading ammo by turning off the ammo door circut breaker. So there is a bit of dio. potental there . Toad out

Thanks to you both for your inputs. I just wanted to be sure (and I will keep the corresponding parts of the Eduard PE set for another project )
