Thanks Jason for the heads up, easy fix since the numbers are made with masking tape.
Paul great video, nice to see how the cables are hooked up to the power packs.
Funny how militarys around the world think alike when packing field rations. We tended to pack more soda and gatoraid than water, snacks, chips and what not. But you can never forget to take the BBQ grill, always nice to have something other than those nasty MRE's.

Okay I just came across these photos of a Danish ARV deployed to the balkans helping to build what looks like some sort of bailey style bridge with some US troops. Does anybody know what kind of bridging system this is?

It looks like a Medium Girder Bridge (MGB) but as it is just being placed it does not have the end ramps.
They were used in Bosnia and then in Iraq.

Thats a Danish ARV. The picture is from the west side of Doboj in Bosnia.
The Nato bridge is gone now, but you can still see the road..
44.705159, 18.068039 or +44° 42' 18.57", +18° 4' 4.94"
In 1996 this ARV blew of a couple of roadwheels inside the Danish Army Camp "Camp Dannevirke"(44.682923, 18.073379 or +44° 40' 58.52", +18° 4' 24.16") just south of Doboj. The camp was heavily mined during the war, and during the clean up they hit a mine..
64.111 have been upgraded to Wisent, and is currently in Afghanistan.

Its an MGB with the link reinforcement system. It is still on its construction rollers. Once jacked down the decking and ramps were the last items to go on.

Thanks for the info on the bridging system. I found tons of great photos that should help me with build some sections of it.
Off the wall question, does the Taurus have any sort of apu on board the could be used for power tools and what not? I'm looking at scratch building a portable Genny since I have some spare trailer parts.

Your welcome. Nope, no APU on the Taurus...it is 1970s technology...just good old fashioned tools.

Here is a small update, I’ve completed all the suspension comments and return rollers. I’ve also got the crane boom set at the angle I want needed to figure out a way to mount it so I can remove it for painting. One small problem I ran into was the mounting pins for the road wheels are too long, easy fix with some cutting.

that big box would be perfect for slapping a Canada flag on!

Thanks, now that is an awsome picture, might just have to do that. Gives a chance to use Archer dry transfer flag set. I did come across a photo of one deployed to Astan with a flag somewhat folded up and strapped to the front of the crane boom.

Well I’m finally back to working on my Taurus and have completed the build process. I’ve decide to actually build it as a rent a tank version. I’ve removed the storage box off the boom and will be build a different and smaller storage box on the rear hull. Beyond that I’m really to slap some paint on this puppy. The figures are from callsign models.

Thanks Jason for the comments. I decided the change mostly because I have some many projects on the bench and I’m building this also for a campaign and running out of time.
I’ve started the painting yesterday and used a mixture of Vallejo model air olive drab and cam dark green. Since these were short lived and had to be returned to German as received, I plan to keep the weather down. Basic fading using the base color mixed with yellow and followed by light grey green. The marking are a combination of archer and the decals supplied in the kit. I took a stab at the German warning signs guessing these would still be in place. I’ll let this dry overnight and will seal everything in later to start some of the washes.

Nice work on the painting. You are right about the weathering...overall they never really succumbed to extreme chipping or wear and tear during the year or so they were rented.
The colour you chose is a good mix...the German RAL 6014 Yellow Olive (Gelboliv) is a tricky colour to match...not quite OD, not quite brown, and not quite dark green.
Nice touch with the kit in the stowage box...add a case or two of Heineken and you'd have a pretty accurate looking Canadian ARV.
You are correct about the German markings...they all remained on the rental tanks.

Thanks alot for the comments Jason I mostly went by Tankograd book on the Leopard C1 since there are a few photos of the rental tanks, but not much else. Just going to keep it to the normal mud and dust. I'm also palnning to build an engine stand to mount on the deck and a couple more boxes. I do have an engine that I plan to hang from the boom, may not be a leo power pack, but it will add some interest to the project.

Thanks Jeff, the only real problems with the kit so far have been the lower, upper and back plate for the hull and some nasty gaps to fill Beyond that, I'm really pleased with it so far and has been worth the money I spent on it.
Very talented Christopher. I'm impressed, If I don't have written instructions, I'm a doofus so seeing you scratch build this is like Wow for me. I subscribed too on this thread. Keep it up buddy
