1st off here's a brief history/ background of the photo:
This is an official DA photograph taken by a US Army photographer assigned to the Signal Bn of the 7th Infantry Division in Nov. 1950. The photo is of 2 US Infantryman assigned to the 17th US Inf. Regt, 7th Inf Div, looking across the Yalu River into China. The 17th Inf Regt, was officially recognized as the most northern deployed UN Forces prior to China's intervention into the war. When the word came down for all UN forces to stop their advance, the 17th Inf was standing on the actual border between n. Korea and China, the Yalu River.
My concept:
To build a diorama around 2 US infantryman standing on a stonewall. One soldier will be pointing while the other is looking through a pair of bino's. For the background I am planning on using either this photo (edited) or another similar photo I might be able to obtain from a fellow member of the Regiment who was there.
