I just created my account and this is my first post to the boards I'm usually on a couple other aircraft sites but this is the first site I joined specificly for Tanks.
I plan to do a Dio. for a T-55 from Yugoslavia (not sure if I want to do it in JNA, or Croatian or Serbian guise) but I'd like some info. if there are any diffrences from the standard T-55A and B models (I know Yugoslavia had As and Bs but the other variants I'm not sure of)
I'd request just info. on the tanks to their specific nations, Yugoslavia, Croatia, Serbia and I would request keeping the politics out of this thread, please. photos are also appreciated, there are a couple sites online I was able to find and a main one which lists all JNA and Serbian tanks with a lot of great pictures (not sure if I'm allowed to post the links here or if its just limited to pm)
I know its touchy to bring up something like this but I'd like to do a model representing something from my homeland
I have some models representing a crew at rest that I might put into action for this schene.
The model I have is the T-55 from Trumpeter in 1/35. I'm thinking about purchasing a engine detail set for it, but they only come for Tamiya models, does anyone know if it could be adapted to fit the model I have?
Thank you for your help I can't wait to be contributing on the forum
Igor

Check out the Russo-Soviet forum. There are a few guys there that are very knowledgeable when it comes to Yugo armor. Maybe an admin could move this thread there?

You'll find some good references on the soviet forum for sure, but what I can tell you is that Trumpeter's T-55s and variants are unaccurate kits, mainly due to their "toyish" look and the fact that they were designed to be motorized, and that led to the need to make the hull too high to accomodate the batteries and the electrical motor...
That's the main but not the only issue.
If you have to go with Trumpeter's kit, then do it, but be adviced of its issues...
And take a look to some builts -I paste this one for example-, maybe it helps or give you some ideas
