What colour were the Panzer IV's painted that were used by Syria in the 1960's? I was given an old Panzer IV-J by a friend, and since I only build modern subjects, I thought it would make a cool subject. As well, does anyone have pics of them in Syrian service?
Thanks,

As they were obtained by France, I would venture a guess and say French OD, which according to what I've read about IDF vehicles that had the same color originally, tended to fade to a browner shade of OD.
Several came from Spain. It would be interesting to know what those were painted.

It seems they were some kind of sand or dark yellow. Not sure about the idea that the French would have repainted them, unless they were used by them first, which in the case of Pz IVs, I didn't think was the case.
This seems to confirm the colour, you can see traces of a pale sandy paint, then probably red oxide primer, then lots of rust.

I'm afraid this is wrong. All the pictures I have the IV's are sporting a dark green colour.

Thanks for all the replies - I think I will go with the dark green shade with a lite touch of brown added to it.
