Hi Folks,
I am at present finishing off a Panther that I failed to complete for the Panther Campaign and an Elephant that I was doing for the Get 'em Done Campaign. I was unable to finish them due to domestic pressures and not being very well. So I thought that you all might like to see how they are progressing to completion.
The Panther is the Dragon one with moulded Zimmeritt and I have used the Part set for the side skirts, which will be added presently. I left them off so I could paint the tracks better. Here are the pictures after the addition of camouflage...
The road wheels painted up and finished...
The camouflage scheme...
The Elephant is a Dragon base kit with the Atak resin conversion for the Zimmeritt and Part photoetch for the details.
Well that's it for now, I have the detail painting and pin washes to do next, then it is weathering and a base for each of them.
All the best,
Paul

@spacewolfdad – Paul,
Both your builds are terrific, splendid airbrushed camouflage work too. Sorry, it’s taken me some time to reply to your posting, I think you know what I mean?
I ordered the Atak resin conversion for the Zimmeritt and the Part photoetch set for the Dragon Elephant kit from Tracks & Troops last year and those items have yet to arrive at my door? After seeing your work here I’m looking forward to getting my order in, hoping I don’t flub it up! I like the way you shot your photographs as both look like larger scale builds. It’s good to see your work here again. I can’t wait to see them both weathered.

@ Braille...
Hi Eddy,
Thank you very much for your kind comments. The airbrushing is thanks to my new Iwata, which is a wonderful tool. I hope to press on with these this weekend and get them finished soon. I have lots of things that need sorting out before I can allow myself to start anything new. I have some interesting plans for the rest of the year and I hope to share them all here with my Braille chums at Armorama.
All the best,
Paul

Hi Pedro,
Thanks for the kind comment. I am still in learning mode with the new airbrush, but it does seem very easy to get good results. I shall post the next stages soon.

Paul...Nice work Man,they both look great.
But... do you really think you can get away with telling us you got a new Iwata, and then not tell us all the good stuff, like model number, tip size, what you used for paint, and mixing ratios?Come on Man,give it up Jeff T.

Hi Jeff,
Just for you...
The model is a HP-C Plus, I usually spray at 20 psi (I really must get a regulator valve on the outlet) and modify the pressure by a micro-regulator attached to the airbrush. For basecoating it is set at half point (10 psi?) for fine work it is almost closed down (4 psi?), it works for me! My mixtures are 50:50 paint (Tamyia) and thinners (Tamyia) for basecoat, 30:70 paint and thinners for fine work. I usually spray the model after the camouflage with a misting spray of 5:95 paint to thinners, this is with Tamyia Buff. This settles all the colours down nicely and gives a 'scale effect' to the finish. As to tip, it is the one with the airbrush as bought, which I think is 0.3mm, but I am not sure. As you have probably gathered I am painting by instinct mainly, with my old Aztek I knew exactly what it could and couldn't do, I am still finding out this with the Iwata. Does that help at all?
All the best,
Paul

Hi Folks,
I have been getting on with the Elephant and have done the detail washes. I am trying out a method whereby I dampen the area I want to apply the pin washes to and then use diluted Vallejo 822 German Camo Black Brown to float into the raised details, cracks and crevices. This gives the wash an nice feathered edge to it and if it needs further work I can just repeat the process. I then drybrush with some mixes of Vallejo sand colours to pick out the detail. I then painted all the small detail parts, tools, tow cables etc. Transfers were then applied for a vehicle of 2./schwere Panzerjaeger-Abteilung 653. I still have the weathering and a base to do, hopefully this will be the next thing I do. I also hope to progress with the Panther. Here are the photos...

Hi Dani,
Thanks for the kind comment. The tracks aren't finished yet, I still have the weathering to do and that will include the tracks. They are some of the best link and length tracks I have seen and I will make sure they show up really well.
All the best,
Paul

Paul, your Elefant is fabulous, really top paint job, both with airbrush and paint brush.

are you just dampening and diluting with water? Or Vallejo thinner?dampen the area I want to apply the pin washes to and then use diluted Vallejo 822 German Camo Black Brown to float into the raised details

Hi Matthew,
Thank you for the nice comment. I dilute with water, I let the area dry a little first so it is just about damp and then dilute the paint with water and do the washes.
All the best,
Paul

Hi Brent,
Thanks for that, just a bit of finishing on the Elephant and still a lot to do on the Panther. Hopefully I will get that sorted over the next week.
All the best,
Paul
