Does anyone have any details on this kit. According to HLJ it's a Dragon/Cyber-Hobby kit.

Looks like an attempt to bring in a wider base of builders.
Girls und Panzer is a 2012 Japanese anime television series. Looks like the tanks come with decals from the show.

Studying the drawing (if it is accurate to what will be in the box) it has smoke candles. air cleaners, no S-mines, no loader periscope. Might help out those wanting to build and African Tiger.

I knew this would happen. First the Fine molds Type 89/Panzer IV/ Gold Pz38T and now this. I'd go with a kit we already know is good. All we need are the Decals. Really, I'm just waiting now for them to release 1/35 figures of the cast.
Basically a niche show appears, it takes off. Business folks pump out the products and make some money. K-ON! comes to mind, with the huge sales of guitars.
I've been playing around with the idea of St. Gloriana Churchill. Yes I did watch and like the show. Even joined a World of Tanks clan that uses the St. Gloriana insignia. Us nerds and our hobbies right?

There is no point in studying the virtual model, which was designed by the anime company for the animation, because it's not based on what is in the kit box.
I am told that the plastic in this kit will be the same as in the current Orange Box Tiger #9142.

Dragon is stymied at what it will come up with, next. The last news letter had absolutely no kits or anything else. So, the Girl und Panzer kits are just repops of repops? Far be it for them to retool some of their older kits.

An anime tv show about tanks? I would be surprised if it wasn't for the fact that iv seen even weirder things in anime.

Like a school of girls that are actually assault rifles?

Thank God! I thought might be the only one out there! Bought the Fine Molds Type 89 (mainly because I wanted a Type 89), but the Stug III kit is being done as the GuPz vehicle from the first show. The red/ sand/white and blue colour scheme with the banners cracked me up - a fine example of camouflage gone horribly wrong. Looking forward to the final episodes which are coming (finally) next month.

Exactly the info I wanted. I was hoping against hope it was something different, especially since the price is almost double the Orange Series Tiger.
Seems like Dragon is more interested in fads and cobbling together ill fitting batches of parts than giving us righteous African, Early, and Mid Tigers.

Just watched the show for the first time without high expectations to begin with, but now i think it is brilliant, i love anime and am really looking forward to the last two episodes!
I really would like to model these tanks especially the Stug but id prefer it if the decals could be bought separately as it seems a bit of a waste to spend out on a Dragon kit to paint it all funny colours or just take the decals.
The decals could be exchanged with another kit though.

I have to admit, I had never heard about this anime series prior to reading this thread, but have now been watching the eps on the Crunchyroll channel on my Roku box, and am now hooked . Thanks, guys for adding yet another obsession to my life!
Have to agree that all that would be needed to do a model of any of the tanks are decals, as the prices for the "official" kits I've seen online are unreal...$80 average for an off the shelf kit that can be bought for at least half...you're essentially paying for the decals and the licensing. No thanks, I'll make the decals myself, although the white marking would present a challenge.
I think it would be a nice change of pace and a fun challenge to do something like the Stug in all the bright colors, using color modulation, washes, etc. By the same token, it would also be interesting to see a pink M3 pop up at the IPMS nationals...that's not a challenge...I'm just sayin'....
Panzer vor!

Check around - I paid $30ish on Hobbylink Japan, plus shipping. As it came with some other items, I probably paid $40 in total.
