I really hope that those missile tubes are empty.

I am fascinated by the Russian Military, their version of decomissioning a military base is just to pull the troops out and close the gate. Staggering to think that this could happen.

I would love to wander around that missile base and investigate those bunkers (with a geiger counter)I wonder how hard it would be to get an export permit for one of those vehicles

Are you kidding? That's probably the storage facility for the nukes.

Even more Russian forest finds:

Check out the varios camo schemes on show. The black and grey stripy scheme on some of the GAZ-66's is one I've never seen before. It looks hastily applied too- perhaps some sort of quickly applied winter scheme?

Trucks are probably easier to do than tanks are haha. I have no idea if ex-military wheeled vehicles fall under the US 25 year import law or the Canadian 15 year(15, right?) year import law.

As they have no warheads or other armament, I do not believe customs would deny them. However, the duties would be outstanding. I had the opportunity to purchase a mig, but would have to strip it of all armanent and launch capabilities. This is no to mention the customs fees and licenses required.

For trucks, if you plan on using them on the road they still have to meet DOT and Customs regs. In the US, you can only import a vehicle if its 25 years old or more. Obviously, pieces intended for museum collections don't have to meet those regs. Tanks just have to be demiled(holes drilled in hull to make the armor useless, removal of friring pins, welding the breech etc).

As far as I know in the UK there are various restrictions on keeping armor- mostly to do with ensuring the weaponry is de-comissioned. I also read once that if the piece is trackeed and below a certain weight (and fitted with rubber tracks) it can be legally driven on the roads- I'm not entirely sure what other regulations might need to be met for this though. One thing that does have to be considered for armored vehicles is the weight limits of roads. For example, if you have somewhere to keep a large armored vehicle, say a tank, at your house or somewhere you have to consider the weight of it- could the land/road hold the weight? Also- if you want it delivered it will likely have to be on a transporter which can weigh quite a bit on its own, lets say 30 tons, plus 30-50 for a tank and you have 80 tons- some roads simply wouldn't take that weight.
Having said that there are lots of people out there that do collect stuff and obviously its not impossible to import stuff but I would say finding out who actually owns that Russian stuff in the forests might be difficult in itself and then you have to find documentation required for import and export. Its not impossible but finding stuff from a company that specialises in dealing in military vehicles would be easier.

Having said that I'd certainly love to get my hands on one of those Kamaz trucks !

Great find guys. There wasn't a truck there that I wouldn't mind having... both real or as a kit.
