Here are some products from a couple of companies that I have found to have good quality and high value for the price. You can probably find these at up to 20% discount if you shop around.

Central Valley offers two types of girders in 1:87, although they have just told me they hope to acquire a larger molding machine and produce a similar product in 1:48 – perhaps within a couple of years. They also have packages of stairs and ladders, although it’s mostly the latter.

Above is half a sprue, and there are five sprues per package.

Micro Engineering specializes in bridges. Below is the City Viaduct, which could be very useful for those large factory interior dios with overhead cranes. This is the 90 foot kit for two tracks.

The high steel viaduct is usually used for dramatic scenes on model railroad layouts (there is an additional kit that adds two more levels of trusses on the bottom), but this could have some application to other situations. This is the 150 foot single track kit.

Contact and convince them there's demand, and to make sure that new casting machine is large enough. ;-)

They know there's a model railroad market in 1:48.
