Does anyone have info on amature lengths for arms, legs ect for 1/35 scale figure conversions. I have several of the popular figure books including Chilstrom's, but very little on lengths or approximations of lengths for body parts. Also what type of adhesive do you use to secure the copper wire to figure parts. (plastic & resin)

If you have some figures, you could always measure theose arms, or alternatively if you have a scale convertor measure your own or a family member...

Hi Mike,
I use Loctite Super Glue to fix the copper wire into the figures. It's arguably the best one around - certainly here in the UK!
As to the arm/leg measurements, I would go with measuring 3 or 4 different figures arms & legs & then go with the average.
Hope this helps mate.
Joe.

I usually make a basic torso and a pelvis out of magic sculp then drill a few holes in it for the arms, the legs, the middle and the neck. This allows you to pose easily. Feet, hands and heads come from old DML figures or from Verlinden or Hornet and the like. And I glue them with ordinary CA Glue.
Measurements I usually take from DML figures. I do this mainly for the figures height and the length of the legs, And it is allowed to vary a bit since you get people in all shapes and sizes. For the arms I use the following rule. Elbows usually come around your middle just above the waist, Hands come to the middle of the thighs. Unless you lost your arms or are built like a tyrannosaurus rex you should match the rest of the 98% of the world for who this rule counts.

Any CA/superglue would do.
As to proportions I would say find some good anatomical drawing references- plenty on the internet and work from them and any good 1/35 figures you have.
Some sculptors work from the size of the head-eg: the avaerage figure is 8 heads high.
Here is a useful page from the Osprey bok "Modelling and Painting figures"
Finally- you might find more information over on Historica Forma- there have been plenty of Figure sculpting threads there over the years

I guess I have to look at this as more art work than carpentry and engineering.
I would love to see more info on the topic of 35th scale conversions and sculpts on Historic Forma. Maybe as a forum topic.
