Hi again
Yes, another Panther, but this time dressed in white. It's Dragons Panther A premium edition with zimmerit from Atak. It's my first time trying out the hair spray method, but not the last. Takes some practice, but I think it works very well.
Please do comment.

The Panther looks really good Jacob. I think it's sort of unfortunate that you used after-market zimmerit, considering how weathered the vehicle is it's highly likely there would be some battle damage.
Two questions, what's the deal with the markings? Are they based on a photo? They're definitely not the norm, though that's not necessarily a bad thing. Two, will this be making it onto a diorama base? Looking forward to seeing that if it does.

That's one ugly tank! Looks well used and abused. I agree with Christopher, about needing some damage. Why are the inner road wheels white? The markings aren't that unbelievable. I have seen a few photos to support, as well as a few articles, that the markings were painted on after the whitewash.

Very nicely painted and weathered. Personally, I'm not a big fan of battle damage on models as it tends to be over done. As for Matt's question about why are the inner wheels are white, I'm going to assume that the dirt is being rubbed off by contact with the dried on dirt on the outside wheels inner surface. If that's the case, then it's really a little to consistent with every inner wheel face being that clean. A minor point, but a solid observation.

Jacob I have the same model with the same zimmerit set and I am curious how you found mating the upper and lower hull? I ask as I am having real problems with this aspect of the model and I have now resorted to gluing the parts that sit above the tracks to the lower hull as that seems to give me a better look due to needing less force to line everything up as regards the upper and lower hull. I will say that the premium A and D Panther from DML are not a touch on the G models they have released and I wish they would revisit these iconic Panthers with their latest techniques, I know that they have released Zimmerit versions but I prefer the option of picking my preferred zimmerit look.

Hi Jacob!
Wonderful winter white wash applied! Beside of my great appreciation on artistic final result of your big cat, I also want to say some greetings to your tank's commander, he was showing a real tanker expression, very cool!
Just a little thing to discuss: Are the mounted spare tracks also applied with similar white wash? Based on my eyes' observation on other finished works of main battle tank, such spare tracks are generally applied with total rust effect at the exposed side, even in the winter condition. CMIIW, Thank you
Best regards from Indonesia

I'm pretty sure the Germans painted their tracks with a black enamel paint, so most people are wrong in doing this. Not to mention the fact that the crews were usually the ones to apply the white-wash, so it would end up rather inconsistent.
Matt, now that I've thought on it, I do vaguely remember a photo of a fresh white-wash that had more simplistic black markings like Vince's. I think the caption said it was due to that unit having a white out-lined tactical number.

The Germans did paint tracks with black enamel. As far as I know, they did not use primer on the tracks. Also, the steel was not polished. Therefore, they should be about the color of Testors grey. I have a photo of an unpainted link, from a panzer iv. I'll see if I can locate it.
OK. I had a photo.

Thank you Christ for your further explanation. Honestly, I never perform a work on a Panther, Tiger, or any WW II German's MBT, but my eyes have it done already by observation. Now, I'm in plan to work on them and do some research first.
So, may I conclude that we should applied such enamel black both on used tracks and also the mounted spare tracks? Regarding that I oftenly observe that such mounted tracks were applied by as a rusted painting? CMIIW
Cheers

Thank you all for the nice and constructive comments.
Darren: If I understand your question correctly, you're having problems with the inner upper part, just on top of the fracks. The long, slender pieces, which in the end are attached to the front fenders. I've build two of these kits, and I both times glued these parts onto the upper hull part, and I haveven't had any problems fitting those pieces. I think my biggest "challenges" laid in getting the upper hull, engine deck, to aline with the rear armor plate. Sorry I couldn't help some more.
