Hi to all. After long time working in 1:72 scale, I have begun a new model in 1:35 scale. It is an old Spanish gun used in American colonies. A destroyed gun can be seen in Presidio (San Francisco) and it is being an excellent guide for me.

http://svsm.org/gallery/150mm_ordonez

Following with my method of work, first I have made a paper model.

The first pieces. I have used a lot of rivets purchased to masterclub. High quality.

The carriage ready to received the rivets.

A test with the pieces.

Best regards.

@PedroA – Pedro,

This looks to be an interesting build so I’m going to be watching this one come together. I happen to enjoy looking at and like artillery pieces but I don’t know that much about them, although they have been a very important assist on the battlefield, this is truer today.

Looks like you have made a good start on this weapon, with a lot of work on the individual pieces so far. Thanks for the link to the gun at Presidio, you have a great deal of work ahead of you!

The barrel turned by my friend Juan V. Moro.

Pinions, wheels for rotating the gun and brake cylinders.

The stringers finished.

I'm not much for most artillery pieces, but the sheer amount of work going into this one is impressive! I'd still be beating my head against the wall after installing all of those rivets!

Very nice so far!

@PedroA – Pedro,

You are a very patient person, I mean look at all of those rivets and all of them evenly spaced and aligned, that’s craftsmanship. That is one heavy looking barrel.

Bob, Jon, Eddy, thanks very much.

It was a tedious work but the results have been excellent. I have made three copies and now I'm detailing the rest of the model.

Best regards.

@PedroA – Pedro,

Ok, so I’m late here to reply, as I usually am when posting a comment on peoples logs, I have a reputation to uphold with posting late so posting late here even on your log should not be any different!

Pedro it never seizes to amazes me how well detailed the parts are that you turn out with your cast molding process; you even capture detail on the thinnest parts! On this build you’ve even managed to render the grooves on the breach assembly and it’s workable at that! The assembled guns look terrific, I’m very happy with all of the rivets adorning the gun carriages, it makes them look strong and sturdy.

Pedro will you be modeling the ammunition and gun support items?

Thanks very much Eddy.

I have finished the gun and I have posted new pictures in my blog.

Yes, I have made the ammunition and I will make the rest of the pieces when I finish the base. A friend is modelling the figures and another friend will paint the scene. An interesting work .

Un abrazo primo.

Remember my new mail.

Thanks Johan

Finally, after performing the base and some parts of the equipment of the gun, this project is finished. The base was made in plaster seeing some old Spanish positions.

Best regards.
