Hello
wet weeks of rain here, has given me some spare hours to work on a bunch of italian subjects that I started a month or so ago.
This is Italeri's AB 40 Armoured Car. This kit is meant to be a railway version, so I obtained two, and built this one as a road version.
Its from the box, with the 'Libia' sand tyres supplied in the AB 41 kit. These sand tyres did not have a rugged 4wd tread in reality. These kit tyres have very faint lines on the outer edge of the tyre wall, & virtually no tread on the underneath, so these have to represent well worn, bald tyres I guess. Sources on the web also advise these tyres were not in short supply, and were in use 'on the continent' after the 'desert war' was over, at least as spare tyres.
I omitted the side mounted aerial as its sometimes absent in photos of these vehicles in german usage. I also did not add all the tools or fuel cans.
pics below
cheers
Neil

Hi Neil,
That armoured car turned out nicely, excellent camouflage. I look forward to seeing the rest of the group, they should be a fine bunch of vehicles when they are done.
All the best,
Paul

Nice painting, I like the faded camo scheme.
I have the same question with Pedro. How did you paint it?
P.A.

Neil,
Again with the obscure and aesthetically challenged subject. I agree with Pedro that the camo is most effectively well done and wonder about the process used to create it. As with several of your past builds, the figure painting is most impressive.
Cheers,
Jan
