Hi everyone!
I have a question for the Panzer experts on the forum.
Recently, I bouthg the nice Trumpeter Bergepanzer IV kit (#00389).
But I want to use the interior parts on another panzer IV kit, which I want to depict with all hatches open.
My question is:

Would this interior parts suitable for one Panzer IV Ausf. D, like Tamiya's 35096?

Thanks in advance for your kind answers.

Cheers.

Not a panzer IV "expert" and dont have much reference on interior development (how I wish Panzer tracts did an updated Pzr IV series ... so badly needed, and I hope they have found a sucessor after Tom Jentz R.I.P.), but I dont see any major issues with it .... considering its only going to be whats visible through the hatches, but will depend on your own demand for accuracy.
The Trumper kit is based on a late ausf.H or early J. There are definately differences related to what changes were visible on the outside, like hatches, front superstructure profile, pistol ports, vision ports, armament size (the bergepanzer probably doesnt have anything for the fighting compartment), turret traverse, and althought the Maybach engine remained the same, the transmission changed during ausf H upgrade. The SSG 75 transmission was changed to the late Panzer IIIs SSG 77 transmission ... I dont think there is any big visible difference here (?).
So basically use everything thats supplied with your D kit and add the rest from the Trumpeter interior and you´ll go a long way. Of course there are lots of minor details not included in either kit, but my knowledge doesn´t go that far. Hope this has helped some.

Thanks for your answer Frank. I asked this, because as the Trumpeter kit interior is very nice and detailed, yet suitable for a fighting vehicle, not a recovery one. And as I intend to do it with its hatches closes, I was considering some options to put the interior parts to use on another kit.

Cheers! And thanks again.

Hi Pablo,
I had exactly the same idea. I checked the dimensions for the Tamiya P.IV Ausf J and discoverd that the humps inside the hull for road wheel mounts are in the way so these have to go. I´ve checked also Dragons P.IV Ausf E Vorpanzer and
it could fit in here with minor alterations, the sidewall strengthening bits must go.
I think I´m going with the Dragon kit but as yet have not decided, or found the campaign for it

@Paul and @José,

Thanks for tip and the information. I will check on the references.
By the way, I got a pretty sweet deal on a Tamiya 35209, Ausf. H early, from a lcoal online vendor (15 buck less than the Ausf D), so I bought it. I am waiting the kit to arrive.
I will give you guys word on how the conversion results.
Cheers!

Pablo
