And for those of you mentioning how ranks of different eras rankle ( :-) :-) :-) ), you can suppress them now.

I do stick to my guns though in that I think there should be no WW2 ranks - let us stick to modern times and run with that.
i agree twig, for one i know i wouldnt like to see german or japanese ww2 ranks, as many people i know, including family members, fought against these people.
i know not all germans were nazi's, but i still get a little offended by the dominance they have in the modelling world. but thats just me.
cheers

I could care less one way or the other about SS ranks or German ranks for that matter....I'm hoping to get Commonwealth ranks myself.....but in reading this thread it is starting to sound a little like censorship....it's like the Dragon box art that blots out the SS ranks....because it's blotted out does this mean it didn't happen.....maybe they want us to believe there never was an SS...you allow Dave to have the name SS but won't allow the ranks? It's all a little confusing if you see what I mean. Wasn't it Hitler who was condemed for his censorship of history books? Is this not a form of censorship of history?
I feel that if we are opening the doors to a ranking system from all Allied countries.....you should also incluse ranking systems from ALL Axis as well....no censorship.
*steps down from soapbox and trips* #:-)
Bloody Bum that Dioman is, trying to get me in the spot light, and make my name changes! Verie sad state of affair!
SS-74 stands for Super Smart! Or Super Sexie, or Super Slayer of Plick like Dio.
Cheers Mate! #:-)

Quoted TextThere won't be any German SS ranks available via the rank selection system.

Bravo Jim.
All SS were Nazis , and I think this is not a place to make Nazi apology.
No, not all ss men were nazis, and out of the 36 waffen ss divisions almost 1/2 were not even german, and only 3 or 4 of these divisions ever were connected with atrocities.Which was a very small percentage.most were just fighting for their country, and just wanted the war to end so they could go home. Also enlisted men in military service were not allowed to join the party. It is a great injustace to accuse someone of being a nazi just becouse he was forced to wear that unifom. That is like saying all our service men are republicans, just because we have a republican president..Bet you didnt know that did you?I didnt think so!

Okay.....
I appriciate hearing from many of you on this topic. I am not trying to bash German soldiers from WWII by saying no SS ranks. This is a purely personal judgement call on my part and I don't really think I need to justify it further. But I will... the PRIMARY reason I don't want to add SS ranks is that the last element I would want to attract to this site are pro-nazi types who care little for the realities of WWII history and are only interested in "the world according to Hitler". However we do want to attract those military and history loving folks who are interested in the more human aspects of WWII. To completey disallow all WWII ranks would be silly IMHO. Why do we build vehicles and kits based on WWII then? Should we be ashamed in our interest in this subject (or in Axis subjects)? I don't think so. Sure there were those troops (on all sides) that commited atrocities in WWII. This is true thru-out history. You can't abandon an appriciation of historical events by turning your back on them.
We will have German/US/British/etc WWII ranks because there is an interest in them. And personally I think the ranks are fun. And only fun. Let's not take them too seriously please.
